Those headlights looks great...................and the seats

Hmmm looks ok....

Just wish Skoda would get their ar*e's into gear and give us what we want. A hot hatch with all the bells and whistles as we dont want to pay and extra, however many grand just for a VW badge Polo GTI.

I second that....

I'll throw a virtual £1 in decrons direction and state that there will be no VRS version of the fabia II as it's a run out of the last generation chassis and until a version comes out based on the new polo chassis there won't be a VRS version (if ever).

You may be right, but it would seem an odd choice for Skoda to invest so much money in producing the S2000 Fabia, simply to shift a few hundred thousand boggo Fabias.

They'd be mssing out on even more sales, and kudos by failing to prduce a vRS model that stands as a link to the motorsport heritage.

Skoda got lucky first time round and were the first with the platform but it backfired this time round as the new one wasn't ready as the Fabia came out much earlier than the new Polo and Ibizia. I think the old, narrower chassis compromised it's looks too :(

I still think there will be a Fabia2 vRS, but maybe it will be different mechanically to the Polo and Ibiza versions?

Fabia2 facelift is next year.

It seems to me that Skoda were instructed to make the Fabia2 on as tight a budget as possible, which seems a little unfair as they were one of the most profitable arms of VAG. Maybe next time round they'll be allowed to go their own way with platform like they have with the Roomster, Yeti and Superb.

Maybe the facelift won't be a facelift but a move to the new chassis?

If the fabia II facelift is due next year and they don't have a VRS yet, I just don't see it happening myself as it would have too short a life to pay for it's development costs.

Thought the wheel archs need to be bigger.

& it will need MUCH better Headlamps!

I quite agree, and not only that, the S2000 is a quick car that I expect to win events in the IRC this year. So Joe Bloggs turns up at a Skoda dealership asking about a 'hot' Skoda Fabia - they haven't got one - goes to somewere else. Shame, missed opportunity!!

Skoda showed a Fabia design study at Geneva, previewing the next vRS model, due within the next 12 months

While SEAT is supposed to be VW's sporty brand, Skoda looks intent of stealing the Spanish make's thunder.

And that's because while SEAT has had to cut its motorsport operations, Skoda has built a corking S2000 rally car, and that machine has inspired the Czech maker to build a new Fabia vRS.

According to chaps on the Skoda stand, the finished vRS will look like a cross between the car shown at Geneva and the rally car, and will be powered by the brilliant 1.4-litre turbo and supercharged VW engine, tweaked to give around 180hp.

The Skoda will beat the simlarly-engined Polo GTI to showrooms by a fair bit too. Sounds like a cracker.

Geneva 2009: Skoda Fabia vRS - iMotor

My Skoda dealer said it would be around at the end of the year and I reckon it will be with the 180bhp 1.4 twincharge that they plan to put in the Ibiza Cupra, possibly with a DGG box, athough I hope that they do a manual as well. If they want to keep the VRS unique though, I would try to fit the 170BHP TDI engine into the car. It was the ultra torquey Diesel that distinguished the Furby VRS from the competition and made it a unique cult car. I fear a new petrol VRS will have more competition and will not be as good a buy as the last car.

Well let's wait and see, but if there 'aint a TDi under the bonet I will not even look at it.

According to the bosss of Skoda Auto, the facelift for the Fabia will be next year and it will not only be a visual facelift but also techinical changes including new engines (probably 1.6 TDI and 1.2 TSI) and other changes to improve fuel consumption.

Intersting article in this month's EVO magazine - about the current lack of Rally replicas, i;e no Citroen, Ford 4WD 2LTurbo road cars. The writer suggests Skoda jump in and get a piece of this market - with a 2L TFSI engine and the Quattro system from Audi. Sounds good , but I can't see the head honchos at VW/Skoda even contemplating it. One can dream though.......

That looks utterly pants. It looks like a sofa on castors on those wheels.

And if it's a genuine factory mule, why has it got a sunroof? I would have thought that would be a touch extravagant in a car they could roll at any moment.

that face on pic (from below the windscreen downwards) is just screaming BMW X5 at me, and I don't like it.

ok am going to put my 2pence in this pot!! First off there will be a new vrs, i have no idea why people are going no there wont be blah blah etc... i have a good source to tell me that it will be here! but very much looking like 2010? whys it taking so long? dont know if u looked in your wallet the 1pound looks slightly smaller, o yer theres a ression! with the recent porscher trying to buy them out do u really think there thinking about a fabia??? ummm nah i think u will find there trying to gain back a good portion of there shares! If the new vrs looks like the emo concept....great name! I certainly wont be parting with me cash...have u seen it?? its a mong fish of a machine, only nice thing is the seats, they are lush. Im very intrested to find out were people are assuming there will be a 7speed dsg box. In a fabia?? hmm... think that would make people even more confused over a polo or an ibiza, vag are trying to clarify the range what one model has one does not? dont be surprised if the ibiza gets a 7speed box. sorry my 2pence!! :)

From what I decipher from your post..I agree.

It wll arrive in 2010 BUT its not priority to VAG

Its not what we want to hear but thats the state of the industry at the moment

Would have thought it would be riding lower, & Recaro seats+ Wheel arc kit.......Non of them present.

Mike

Its a test car..So it will have the engine but not the other 'bits' to keep everyone guessing

How do we know its a test car, not just a couple of locals out for a jolly in the wifes car?
