Is there a magazine out there that caters for Skoda's? Or are they lumped in with another make?

LOL - i meant an after market magazine hahaha

Have had this discussion on here before but it never quite took off. The only 'aftermarket' magazine that has shown any interest is Volkswagen Driver but that has only featured the occasional article. We have discussed the idea of a joint Seat/Skoda magazine with them but funds and time to not make it possible for Autometrix (the puclications company) to consider it. :(

:( only thing i could think of is that they also maybe isnt a call for one?

if we alll wrote a three issue pilot and passed it onto the publication people then it might give us a better chance than just asking? or how about we go to a vw magazine and suggest a section to trial it out??

Skoda's are getting a good following, and there are plenty on here that I feel are worth a feature myself!

Guess it depends how many you'd hope to sell, but I think the Skoda market is pretty limited for a proper aftermarket magazine. However, you might be able to do an owner's club style magazine for Freedom members which a smaller publisher could run off. You could accept articles from the membership and run featured how-to's, reviews, reports of events/meets/track days etc?

Seen a Skoda Owners Club magazine once down at the dealers, thats only thing I've seen thats to do with the Skoda brand. As Chris says, the way forward for this is to have subscription based magazine.

:) We produce a full colour quarterly magazine that's included in the subscription fee that includes help, photos, articles and members letters for and from owners of Skoda's old and new. I'd recommend any BriSkoda member to join the Club, just as I recommend any SOCGB member join BriSkoda Freedom.

The link to SOCGB in your sig doesn't work for me or is it not suppose to.

The nearest thing you'll find is golf+ or performance vw,which have the odd mention of skoda but not much, they'd maybe feature more if they felt they were more popular which in time they hopefully will,

i had Fabian from golf+ talking to me about my car at edition 38 in 2006 but although he liked it he said he felt it would need something like a big turbo conversion to make it more interesting to there readers but i said i'll probably never do that to my car so that was that

and at vw festival in 2007 a photographer for golf+ pm'd me on a vw forum i go on to ask if he could approach his editor about a feature but i explained that the editor is fabian and that he'd already seen my car and felt it needed a big turbo to get a feature.

so if any of you guys with big turbos are after getting your car in a magazine then it may be worth sending some pics and specs to golf+

Unfortunately the website is down at the moment....hopefully not for much longer!

thats a shame, cos your car was one of the stars of the vwfest for me,for aworking non trailer queen it is awesome:thumbup:

Looking at some of the stuff that appears in pvw i can't understand why any of the mags won't feature yours, unless the badge puts them off:rolleyes:

Thanks for your comment and i think your right that its the fact the skoda are still the outcast of the vag brand which is why you don't see them, the only ones i've seen as a feature is the JBS octavia which was part of a vag tuners feature and luke from Jabba got a feature on his fabia a couple of months ago but there are some great skodas out there which are as worthy of a feature as much as the vw's that are in the mags but they get overlooked,i could approach the magazines myself but i'd rather see if they come to me than me pestering them and if it happens it happens but if not then i don't mind as i modify my car for me:)

i agree:thumbup:

I agree too and thats why i bought a skoda but unfortunately there are a few that still seem to think skoda are inferior but don't know why as there built using the same parts, think there frightened that the old skoda stigma tarnishes the vag brand LOL

I buy PVW, and Golf +, in the hope of a skoda one day, but there hasnt been many...Jabbaluke's was the last one i think....

Its kack really, i mean there should be a VAG group mag, now that would appeal to them all.....

I agree , in fact I would think there would be enough demand for an all VAG mag. There is plenty of scope for features with VW Audi SEAT and Skoda to consider , and also there could be product reviews , tech help , readers rides , old model info (ie quattro , S110R , Beetle etc) cars for sale etc. Looking at the mag stands in WH smith when you see how many other 'narrow interest' mags are out there (such as ones for railway modeling which onl feature diesel and electric locos , for instance) I have the feeling that there could be a succesful business case for an 'all VAG' mag!

Thing is though, it's all on the internet...why go to the effort of producing a limited-appeal magazine at great expense which is going to present the same information in a less interactive way? :rubchin:

Rob.

The UK mr2oc started their own magazine MR2 Only Home Page and it sold worldwide!!! Members from the UK forum did articles, as did some of the aftermarket companies that where involved in the scene it really is quite a good mag.

I have to say, I'd quite like a Skoda orientated magazine to read....
