The Fiesta is without doubt, far superior in every way to the Fabia, the Ibiza will be made out of the same parts so will basically be the same, and certainly no worse than it's Skoda/VW brethren.

I spend quite a significant amount of time in car dealers, they let me test drive anything I want and usually give me a car of my choice as a courtesy car due to the sheer amount of work I personally generate for them, so yes, I do have a good experience of driving most cars.

Well you doubt wrong sunshine, the one I had over christmas for a week was very well put together, just as you'd expect from a japanese car, it also drove superbly and was great fun too, it's what I'd buy if I was in the market for a small size fun car.

Always makes me giggle when people make statements about cars they obviously have never been in.

well you try living with one......oh i also own a swift you prat,i don't make judgements about cars i've never had much expierience of.

Waite add watch then eat your words

hmmmmm

There isnt any point in speculating about the vRS 2 at all. The original Fabia came out 2000 right, the vRS 2003, So if there is going to be a vRS 2 then its reasonable that it will come out 3 years after the Fabia 2s debut (2007) so, 2010 would be an accurate estimation.

If the Fabia 2 vRS isnt diesel thats great news for peeps who have a Fabia 1 vRS because it will most likely hold its value a little better and maintain its odd cult status as being a diesel "hot hatch" and the only diesel hot hatch Skoda have built.

They would be crazy not to make it a diesil. I love my vRS and the diesil aspect totally sold it to me, loads of poke and so much cheaper to run than my last car. When i drive people in it they can't believe the performance to fuel consumption ratio. The Fabia 1 vRS has everything, good performance, good fuel, cheap tax and insurance, why change a winning formula!

Little bit minging though isn't it.

Was in my local dealer on sunday past and he says it will only be the 1.4 tsi or a 1.6tsi petrol engine for the vrs fabia.

Just read in Autocar that the new vrs is due next summer.

It will feature the 1.4litre TFSI engine (168bhp) and DSG with paddle shifts as standard.

Isn't that the engine with a supercharger and a turbocharger?

It also says the car will be available in the bright metallic green used on the Rally

Challenge cars.

Personally I think Skoda are missing a trick if they don't bring out a diesel version as well.

I used to have a mk1 vrs and it was brilliant and so cheap to run.

Was at my dealer today picking up plastic trim for the rear wiper and was speaking to the salesman about the next vRS. He confirmed that it will only be available with the 1.4 TFSi engine with DSG and paddles. No diesel or manual version will be available. Even he said it will be interesting to see how it does when launched.

Also had a seat in the latest Superb, what a lovely big car that is

Did he say WHEN?

Mike

Said early to mid next year. They are still waiting on official date from Skoda.

Just found a test on the new Seat Ibiza cupra in a July issue of Autocar.

This has the 1.4 turbo/supercharged engine putting out 178bhp. 0-62 7.2 secs and 44.1mpg combined. £15,995

They slag off the DSG though.

You can bet your bottom dollar the fabia will be the same spec but cheaper.

Can't see it been the bargain the last one was though.

Autoexpress had it at 6.8 to 60............30-70 in 6.2..........However a Golf GTI was 2.2 secs faster around beford.

Cars Of The Future® Blog: 2010 Skoda Fabia vRS details revealed

Came across of the above. And I think the price is spot on. So its very much not a bargain in the least bit. I dont think I will bother with one. Altho am test driving a new ibiza FR whenever they have one delivered. But I think my money will be on an Auris SR180 (One CRAZYYYYYYYYY Derv Power Car!)
