Thanks Chris.

To be honest i've got an itch for a cheapish trackday/fun car.

Started looking at Westfields etc and then the Elan.

I really should just try to forget the idea.

Actualy it is fitted with the Isuzu turbo engine.

They are quite a nice car and we have a few at our local lotus club.

I think one of the biggest problems is that the hood leaks a bit.

I can probably put you in touch with several people who could give you a very good low down on them if you wanted??

Also look here.

Lotus Elan Central

I've met a few of these guys on meets and they are a friendly bunch.

I've had a little scout around there already Alan. It seems a well organised place with a nice buyes guide.

The guy that runs our local club has an M100 and he loves it.

If you want to have a look at pretty much anything lotus then there is a big show at donnington on 29th/30th March.

Hopefully I should be there in the V8 on the PNM stand.

The guy that runs pnm also looks after a couple so could give you some pointers.

I guess it depends on what your budget is as to what you could get.

I can confirm that yer Lotus do know there handling though lol.

Cheers

It's a girls car Stu and if you buy one you have to give it to me.

HTH

Now that is a tempting offer Ms P. I'll make a note of it for future referance.

For similar cash you could get an older esprit for a bit of fun. Also as a track car how about a cat d elise. You won't find much that will out handle one of those.

The Elise is just starting to come down in price and yes I'd like one but hard to find at the right price.

PM me with your budget and I'll ask about for you.

I was really looking at a max of 3.5k for an Elan. it'd need to be a bit more for an Elise.

No, but you might want to pay attention to this:

Kinda goes with the territory of an old car.

A pound for every time.....

My dads favorite saying at the moment.

I have to agree the handling is awesome on the elise.

How about this?

LOTUS ELISE BLACK DAMAGED REPAIRABLE CAT D 1999 V REG on eBay, also, Lotus, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Jan-08 16:40:59 GMT)?

Ask what damage it has, clams arnt a fortune, its just getting the suspension bits, but there are a few people out there breaking them now.

If you want some more info try SELOC.org there are loads of people on there and if you register you can get on the forums.

What about an MX-5 Stu, or are you specifically after a Lotus?

Steve

So thats how your worked your way up to an Esprit :D

owts fun for a track how about a old pug 205gti stripped out?

Cheep and fun (yes i know not the fastest thing in the world !)

LOL.

Nah I'm living a dream. After seeing it on the bond film and then I saw one in the flesh I really wanted one. Took me a while but I've now actually got 2 of them.

Eventually I'm aiming for about 500BHP out of ithe V8 with a tuning package I'm progresively working through, which should be fun!

Ideally not just a track car but a little weekend toy as well - so a dual purpose.

Already had an MX5 - neat little car but the lure of something a little faster beckons.

I did see that one but I reckon it'd take you a fair few £££ to get that sorted.

When you say clams are reasonable - what sort of reasonable?

Normally a few hundred quid. If you are handy with glassfibre you can get a minor damaged one and fix that yourself. Bit cheaper that way. Normally you can find them on ebay or some of the breakers get them in.

SELOC is great place for the elise and all it's tuning gubbins.

You could also do a search for club lotus and see if you have a club meet near you.

If you get bored you could always drop the Vrs engine in it for more go!!

Cheers
