Intel K6600??

Featured Replies

hey guys can anyone help as im a bit confussled!

I opened up CPU-Z this morning to check what my FSB etc was running at and it reckoned that my cpu is an intel core 2 K6600 in stead of Q6600! Very weird!

Se below:

I'm running q6600 and it is correctly identified on cpu-z. Try a newer version of cpu-z as the one I'm running is the latest release and a newer one than you have

It's just software it's calling it a Kentsfield which is the correct one for the Q6600.

Nothing to worry about IMHO.

Oh yeh... never thought of updating the program!!! hehe

Have downloaded the new version and i have a Q6600 again! yay!

Weird how it did that though.

Just have to overcome my overclocking demons that wont let the pc boot everytime i try!!!!

I've been experimenting with overclocking this cpu. It should go upto 3ghz but my mobo is cack. I have been running at 2.7ghz with no issues and I achieved this by just upping the fsb in the bios to 300mhz. Give it a try and then use "cpu truespeed" to check it's new speed

What board you got ??

Have you updated the bios ??

Ive got an Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI to be precise.

Havn't updated the bios.

Will check on the website for any updates.

Have only been trying the up the FSB to 1300 and put the mulplier on 8x and kept the memory at 870 which it can handle with ease but it just wont boot!

I got an asus board with the x 38 chipset and i'm running 9 x 400 fsb =3600 ghz, I think it will go higher on the fsb but I havent got round to pushing it. It flies along now but I may get round to upping it some more soon
