How do Front Parking Sensors Know.....

Featured Replies

....that your in standing/crawling traffic and not parking??

Do you have to engage reverse first? Strangely enough, I wondered this myself after SWMBO backed into my car whoever-it-was had posted their DIY parking sensors guide...

AFAIK...they have a very short range, and you should only be that close to other obstacles when you're parked... :)

AFAIK, most systems have a master switch to turn it on/off, but the cleverer (or not!) ones trigger at anything below about 10mph, but can be overridden with the master switch.

The octavia II has a switch on the dash down by the ASR off button which basically turns the front sensors on and off.

Looks like my guess of 1st gear would be wrong then...

Yes, there is a dash switch to engage them, otherwise as you point out they would be beeping all the time!! (Well may be not all the time)

Meanwhile, if a fly splats into one does that mean the system thinks you have permenantly hit something?
