squashed sill flanges

Featured Replies

im sat here with a hangover gazing out at my car in the rain and thinking about how perfect she is!

but at some point in its life someone decided to jack the front end up by the sills, and as a result the flanges on the sills behind the front wheels have been folded over a bit.

you dont notice it really and ive seen loads of cars with the same thing, but it just irritates me!

anyone ever tried folding them straight again? im thinking the metal might snap if you try....

Both of mine are like that!

I've seen loads of others like it too.

I had mine folded back by a bodyshop after the NZ importers used a forklift to lift the car for inspection!!!

mine were folded.

tempted them back with a piece of 2x2 and a hammer :D

should fold back out quite easily, without snapping off , try it today , you know it will make you feel better

I rushed off a kerb outside work when the council were re-tarmacing the road, 3 days after getting my octy and killed them. That was nearly 2 years ago, they're still like it now.

Me too my n/s/f is the same crushed in by my dealers when they serviced it but of course they are denying they done it !!

WESTOVER SKODA WHAT A BUNCH OF RETARDS!!!!!!!

same my nearside folded after i jacked it up wrong . big oops but ive heard body shops use strong magnets to pull them out.

Both the sills were like it on my old octy.

has anyone had them repaired and how much did they charge?

The problem with fixing them, is it will happen again.

not if you jack the car up properly it wont surley

Mine are both folded over... I don't see much point in repairing them as the mechanic I use has a two post lift which picks the car up by the sills anyway.

Wow, Im glad mine are spot on after this thread. Mines been on my mates 2 post lift without issues.

The problem is that they are made from butter.

Mine are folded on the front off side bit there is little you can about it really

aii mine are made from dairylea

I wonder how mines been able to escape this wrath, careful owners and garages maybe. My cars been way up in the air when fitting new rear springs etc on 2 jacks on the sills (albeit with large, rubberised feet).

its when u jack them up nearer the edge. mine slipped off causing the sill edge to bend. there isnt a clear place to jack them up. i used a standard jack which tbh i hate as it looks unsafe to start with. i use my trolley jack when at home now.

Usually where the arrows are is the best area.

And why mods to be fitted isnt remap???!! :o

true youve got me there. i havent arranged to pop and see angry dog yet. eagle eyes !!!!

Il change it just for you. happy now lol

ps i dont see any arrows under my car

Just noticed my f/n/s is squished! Wondered about the wood and hammer approach!

Mine are the same, someone at some point has jacked it up wrong

How would you jack the car up if you had a flat tyre but yet had squashed flanges on the sill

Good to hear im not the only one with squashed flanges/sills

Had a tyre fitter squash the sills on my car - Cost him a fortune to put it right!

Yes, I know the car is dirty, but it was January!
