Hi all!!!

im selling, infact ive done the deal and sold my car. what happens with my private plate? im going to take it off and put it on retention but how does this work with the cars old reg?

does the car just get its old reg number put back on by dvla or does it get assigned a different one all together?

how easy is it? just a form plus me taking in my tax disc to get changed?

it usually gets the old reg back, and you get a piece of paper with your plate on it.

It does depend on whether somone has bought your old plate though, if thats the case it is allocated a new reg

The transfer can be done there and then, but I believe it can take a couple of weeks for the V5C to be returned to you. When you take your tax disc out, try and leave the car offroad.

The old plate isn't available for general consumption, it's retained until you sell the car, hence the fees.

Have you gone for the S4 then Kenny? or something more economic?

They don't guarantee the car's old plate back, but I'm sure 99% of the time that's what happens.

It can be a bit of a wait at your local DVLA office, but can be done there and then. So try and avoid the end and beginning of the month, when it might be busier.

yeah im not too bothered about the 08 plate to be honest

the wait will be well worth it as im getting huge discount!

Niiiice! I have a mate who is undecided between a BMW 330D or an A5 3.0 TDi.

It's a no brainer AFAIC, A5 all the way!!!

Is this through usual Audi UK dealer channels Kenny? Might advise a guy in the office then, who's looking to move to one later this year. He might need to start planning a little earlier than he realises

its actually from Audi UK as im getting a rather good discount on them.

Gayle and myself are getting married in august so im not overly fussed that its July. would prefer sooner but the deal i got is brilliant. not signed up yet as i need to confirm finance first
