vRS strut brace options

Featured Replies

Guys - pondering a front and rear strut brace for Greedy to make the most out of ride handling when the coilovers go on in the next week or so. I have my eye on a Forge one but whilst scouring the Dubmeister website today for plate surrounds came across a new make called "Wiechers". The website states: "Wiechers is well known in Germany for quality products, especially motor sport oriented quality functional braces and roll cages. They compete in motorsports and run a succesfull racing team"

Strut braces are £38 and £39 respectively and just wondered if anyone had heard of the above?

Try search out the adjustable MOMO one, seeing as they don't really do much for the handling you may as well get the prettiest one :D

I bought a Weichers lower front strut brace 2nd hand which the chap who bought my car fitted. Turned out it ran about an inch from the ground when fitted so he removed it.

im thinking of just getting a front one for now - the momo one is way outta my budget this month :( even though its shiny. Did a search on the weichers one and cant see any problems with the front brace option just that the rear catches when the car is loaded

I'm sure there was a thread on here somewhere a while back saying the Forge one can catch on something as it's designed for the Ibiza? Was it the vacuum box?

Edit: Can't find it, I may just be dreaming it, so don't take me too seriously...

Mort from what I read searching on the posts the catching was for the Weichers rear one - couldnt find negative comments on the forge one

muchos gracias senor

I've just ordered a seat one.

I know it's bright red, but I quite like it!! (and it's a perfect fit!!)

Part no- 6L0071710 @ £49.99

My mate is running his Ibiza FR on Wiechers Sport struts all round. They are very well built, look good too. Not adjustable, though. He is running the front lower strut also. It managed to catch the ground several times and bend itself. Though, it managed to self-regulate and did not change the geometry of the whole front suspension.

I will be ordering these soon. :D

PS: Got two friend rallying round here and they both run on Wiechers complete roll-cages. Must be good then.

Ive got a MOMO Seat one.

I did notice it was on after fitted, deciding whether to take it off or not though....

Mine is in Minz Green, the same as the calipers....

Looks ok....Which no doubt will get a comment or two off regular posters....!

Thats good to know - nothing comes higher than recommendations from friends who run the same set ups. I have spoken to dubmeister about them today and they have given me some additional info. Notice u live in Sofia - i got a few friends in Bulgaria :D

I don't actually know why isn't Wiechers Sport a popular make in GB. Loads of people drive with their struts round here. In Germany they are quite popular also.

Come to think of it - I got another friend having Wiechers on his turbo Golf 3 with coil-overs, he too is quite happy them.

Another very popular mark here is Sparco. Also very well built and quite appreciated amongst enthusiast.

PS: Where is your friend from? Is his a car enthusiast too? Might know him if so...

You may purchase my shiny forge one if you like. PM me if interested. £40.00

you have PM Shifty - nice offer :D

Fitted my Seat one today.

Would have been a quick job if I hadn't had a screw disappear down the side of the airbox (which meant the whole bloody airbox had to come out).

Seems a bit more responsive on steering, but need to drive it a bit more really. I only popped to halfrauds to get more car shampoo.

I went for the Seat one and resprayed it Hammerite smooth green then got a Skoda MotorSport decal to finish it off. I also got my Jabba rear ARB in green to match....... Even though only i and any mechanic who looks will ever know. :D:D:D

Do you perchance have the part number for your coloured engine badge??

The black one looks awful.
