Buying your octavia vRS

Featured Replies

For owners who bought their brand new in a lump sum, how much did you manage to take off the list price?

Did anyone of you buy it on h.p? What size deposit was paid and how much/many installments.

The only downside to buying a new one is that they lose about

I bought mine brand new, and paid cash and a p/x but at the time the RS was and still is like gold dust and couldnt negotiate on the price if the RS.

All the dealer did was increase the value of the p/x thus reducing the cash outlay.

Skoda finance is or was flexible, just tell the dealer how much deposit you want to put down, I said 100 quid and how much you can afford to repay each month and they can calculate a term / repayments that suit you. in july 2001 such a small deposit was not a problem.

I will either be getting it through skoda finance or a small loan. The problem with skoda finance, i checked the skoda site and it shows an example at 14%apr which is hell of a lot, while a loan it can be like 8.9%.

Options, so many options!

Wouldn't bother too much with finance through the dealers - try someone like Northern Rock who have unsecured loans at about 7.5%.

I negociated very hard with my Dealer (Alex Larrie, Liverpool), but as well as getting a good partx price for my L&K, told him I wouldn't repay more than X/month. They ended up going to Black Horse finance apr 6.9% to get it cheaper meaning that they didn't get any finance commission! I then contacted a dealer on the Wirral who gave me the best price (my dealer then matched it) when I bought my last one, and he said he couldn't match this new deal, wasn't worth his while, he had knocked about 8% off the vRS, so it just shows what hard bargenning can do. By the way, I got

When I bought mine they were pretty rare - I paid with cash (via a loan from my bank) and they through in the SupaGuard weather protection pack thingy and I think I got the black magic paint as well - basically NOT A LOT!

Like the price of the car you can haggle on the finance. I got mine vRS from Sherlodge Garage and although I paid cash I was also quoted an APR of 9% for Skoda finance.

You can get lower interest rates dependent on your credit rating. and amount borrowed. Check out the money section on MSN; they do a comparison on pre loan type basis.

Cheers.

Adrian.

I found it extremely hard to negiotiate any decent sort of discount from my local dealer, in the end he did price match one of the internet brokers (but not the cheapest one), and that amounted to about

Check out loan rates on the web - Motley Fool for example - http://www.fool.co.uk - suggests Direct Line Finance are down as low as 6.9%, depending on ratings etc. as mentioned by Adrian. Most dealers will take up to

Got my vRS with parking sensors and black magic paint brand new for

Back in Oct 2001 I paid full RRP (

I bought My black beast with parking sensors for

Other reason I would advise against finance is the difficulties that you have when you come to sell. I got mine off someone that had finance outstanding and was showing on the HPI checks. He had told me of the HPI, but the hassles in dealing with a person who doesn't want to pay off finance until you have effectively committed to the sale drives away a large number of buyers. - if I hadn't been very patient (as I was getting a very good deal) the hassles would have made me walk away to a dealer (almost did this even for the extra

I paid full list for my car

7% sounds good. But a fixed rate suits me. Do you have to pay for it before you receieve the car? personally I really dont mind waiting. I wonder if its possible to get it for

You should easily get one for less that 14,000 with no extras. I set my heart on a black one and I wanted the extra gadgets. So I am waiting and paying a little more. Does anyone know if you can fit front mud flaps to a vRS? One dealer told me it was technically not possible so I have not pursued it since.

Hi,

My vRS is fitted with front mudguards (so your dealer is talking s@@te!) and it came with black magic paint, diamondbrite coating, cruise and sensors for 13995 GBP. This was a sub 2000 mile car (52 plate)that was returned to the dealer as the lady said it was too fast!

cheers

I cannot afford to keep 2 cars , thats why i needed to trade 'Brookie' !, also I would have had to keep her outside if i kept her , which I couldnt bring myself to do! Now I wonder where all the Capris have gone , you just never see one now! (maybe all round the back at Skoda dealers!!)
