Woulnt think that sort of increase could been achieved diy, your really talking remap or turbo back exhaust and sport cat to get any real gains.

Certainly better filter may help too.

Otherwise as suggested an exhaust might help.

Cheers

None other than spending a few quid on a remap. It neednt be that dear though, I paid less than £200.

I paid £99 for a remap :)

Which is great, but not everyone wants to remove their ecu and lose the use of their car for upto 3 days ;)

Had enough of me enough to get me a pint of coca cola eh ;) lol

How come you guys paid so little for remaps?

Martzini sent his ECU away and Liverpool Lad found a guy off ebay iirc who was doing them cheap.

Remember you get what you pay for with remaps. It might be cheap but is it any good. If your car goes like the clappers but the turbo expires in 10,000 miles or the whole thing goes pop it could be the remap. If you can afford it go to a reputable well used tuner & get a decent remap

Ah, i see.

True, true.

I wasn't really looking to get mine done but with those prices it's got me thinking

I agree i paid £450 for mine, and i havent got hesitation problems or any problems at all unlike others on here.

I paid £250 in a group buy on another forum from a company thats been doing maps for years.

There is another remap day coming up soon.VWAUDI Forum

A £99 remap = trouble imho.

Its quite possible to get 200bhp without a map, just ask JayMD on here.

I think the single biggest improvement is a nice unrestrictive exhaust like a Blueflame, and they are pretty easy to DIY fit

Not necessarily. Another guy who had the same map as me put on had it rolling roaded and everything checked and they were actually impressed by the quality of the map, not too agressive etc and good gains throughout the range.

Mmmm.:thumbdwn:

I can perhaps justify the cost of a remap to SWMBO, but the hike in insurance seems out of proportion to the BHP increase.

In some cases, the increase on the quotes I had were more than the remap itself, which means in theory I'd be paying the cost of a new remap every year in increased insurance premiums!:(

How do you all afford it?

Well I've been quoted about £900 to insure a standard Octy vRS, but only £1300 odd to insure a 337bhp "tweaked" one... ;)

It will be worth it :thumbup:

My map and i believe from what i have read liverpool lads map is a diga-tec map which is a renowned german mapping firm.

I have had a few niggles to start with, hesitations which many of the well known mapping firms have sometimes. Liverpool lad has had none of these probs and mine now runs great thanks to the new plugs:).

A vast improvement and puts a big smile on my face every time i drive it.:thumbup:.

Imo it is not worth paying £400 or £500 on a generic map which is practically the same as mine.

I did a lot of research into the guy who did my map and the maps he uses, basically the reason why some mappers use ebay is to get the reputation, and 100% on ebay is a very good reputation and good for business.

Think about it if you knacker a car and support is rubbish this will reflect in the feedback, it is dangerous for mappers to use ebay due to the odd faults which even alot of the big companies such as and including Jabba have occasionally.

I concur, I couldnt be happier.

Have just looked at diga-tec website, price for vrs remap 699 Euro which is approx £520. So cant see how you can get for £99 on flea bay

Trust me i have had conversations with that company about who uses their files.

That price will be what they charge to put the map on, not what they sell the file to mappers for.

More expensive isnt always best either.

I dont charge over the top for the maps I sell as I dont see why they should cost so much to the end user. I have faith in the maps I sell, I get awesome back up as well.

Also, re the hesitation, this is not prooved to be a mapping issue. Some cars get it, some dont, whether the map is from the same company or not. I did a Leon 1.8T - that doesnt have ANY issues at all. Mine does, but it's looking very much like a duff coil pack.
