Is it me being biast, or does anyone else agree that the Mk 1 is a better looking design than the current model?

I've always thought this although the mk2 has grown on me :sofahide:

i like both of them now,but a lot of people on here certainly do not,let's say you have just started something.

I prefer the mk1 vrs as it is more intimidating!!

I prefer the look of the Mk1 but the Mk2 is definitely a more "modern" looking car.

I prefer the Mk1 vRS looks to the Mk2 vRS looks, but for the rest of the range I prefer the way the Mk2 looks.

The Mk2 has a vastly better interior though, and a better engine, and nicer suspension... imho its a better car.

I think the front of a mk1 vrs looks more aggressive than other mk1 models but don't think the mk2 vrs looks very agressive from the front and feel it doesn't stand out from the other model mk2's like the mk1 did,still a very nice car though but i still prefer the mk1 vrs looks

Mk1 every time, weve got 2. If they still made the Mk1 L&K I would buy another tomorrow. Weve tried a couple of Mk 2's including the L&K & they were just soul less & squeeky, hense we bought a Superb

Love the look of the Mk1 over the Mk2.

And if i was buying again, i'd be going for a L&K rather than vRS.

Basic models... I prefer the Mk2, but I think the Mk1 VRS looks a tad more aggressive.

I think the mk1 vRS is the best looking car but it just needs the mk2 interior and engine.

I think the new vRS is just a fatter version of the mk1.

I definately think my mk1 vRS was better looking, BUT my current mk 2 vRS is a much better car and more comfortable (I Suffer with a bad back and my current mk2 is vastly superior for my back) Wouldnt have changed but for Motorpoint tho!

I think the Mk1 is a more classic styling and better, Mk2 has lost the edge but I suppose change must happen!

Mk 1 every time - as for those who think the interior is nicer in the Mk 2 - just ask yourself WTF are you playing at leaving the seats in anyway

Unfortunately ( I own a Mark 1) I think the front end resembles a Rover 800 to a worryingly high degree. The Mk.2 is just so much better in all areas that it's slightly challenging looks are immaterial.

and were is the green calipers and sporty extras?

Had a Mk2 vRS for about 6 months but couldn't get on with it, went back to a Mk1 and I felt at home. Ok Mk2 better built but seems too civilised Mk 1 more raw and i think more aggressive looking. To my mind Mk1 vRS will become a classic just like mK1gti
