Advice on Rear Washer Problem

Featured Replies

Hi. I wonder if somebody could please give me some advice on my lovely new 03 Fabia!

The rear washer does not work. I found the pipe disconnected in the engine compartment and connected it back up (maybe it was disconnected because the previous owner knew it was faulty?). Now the water is running down the back mud flap and on to the ground. I wonder if there is another connection or is it just that the pipe has become disconnected from the main wiper unit.

Also, I have just read about the door carrier problem where water gets in the rear foot weels - I wonder how common this is as I am worried that I will have this problem.

Many many thanks for any assistance.

Thanks for this - I have to take the back panel off in the boot? Have to get the garage to do this for me.

Again, many thanks

There is a connection behind the carpet in the boot on the left hand rear wheelarch area, that has probably become disconnected, check this first before the one at the motor as it is easy to do, tose tailagate trims are a pain and to take them off and refit them properly involves removing the top and side trims When reconnecting the one in the engine bay it takes a bit of pressure to do it correctly until you hear and feel it snap in to place. It is very common for these to disconnect, just naturally suspicious?

As VRStu says it is likely that the because of a blocked jet the back pressure has caused the pipe joins to disconnect.

Have look at this thread and you'll see just over half of the owners who voted have the leaky door problem! :(

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/general-car-chat/poll-leaky-skodas/95997/

If you look in the Poll that I started a while back ( http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/fabia-door-water-leaks/80673/ ), close to 90% of Fabia owners who replied have had or still have leaky doors :thumbdwn:

On the upside, Skoda UK say there is no issue with leaky doors, so it's OK and we are just imagining it

Fitted a door carrier the other day and I must have imagined an improved double seal on its bottom edge.

The search would have been a good tool to use here, instead we get another rear washer thread.

Thank you all very much indeed for the help and advice.

And my sincere apologies to oilburninnut - I am neither a car mechanic or a computer expert. I have now found the search facility that you mention, and will ensure that I use this in the future. I do however thank you for taking the time to write - I guess you could have just ignored me!

lol,education is the key:thumbup:

Just found the connector on the rear wash motor has a crack in it!!

tried a jubilee clip which sort of worked but still had a small leak.

I think the plastic has hardened..... it looks like a right pain to change as well as the pipe is really hard. i may try some silicone in the crack and a jubilee to hold it.

Anyone got any other ideas? the crack is in the pipe connector down the side in a straight line.

Thanks

try a hair-dryer on the pipe to make it more pliable, but it may have lost most of its elastic properties due to age, etc

See if you can sleeve it with a piece of rubber tubing and a couple of clips or cable ties.

Thanks, i'll give that a try.

Hi. I wonder if somebody could please give me some advice on my lovely new 03 Fabia! The rear washer does not work.

I'm hoping to fix the exact same(ish) problem on my 2003 Fabia this week so I'll let you know how I get on

Hi

Can anyone tell me how to get the tailgate lining off the fabia hatchback so that I can get at the source of my rear washer leak?

Thanks

AlPen

The plastic trim is held on with push clips all round the edge.

Start at one end at the top where there is a break in the trim at each side, then work your way around.

Once you get one popped out the others are easy.

Use something plastic for leaverage to pry in the gap between trim and the metal.

On mine the push fit had split on the washer pipe. i used a 4 inch length of rubber hose and 2 small jubilee clips. And it is fine now, no leaks.
