If you had one of these fabias you would thrash the pants of the CTR

Autocar - A really very Brisk Fabia

:D

Fantastic mate. I'll add to that sensible post. If you had this Civic, you'd **** over a Fabia with two of those engines! .....

Can't find any times for it. Suspect its just for show. :D:rofl:

you're probably right there...just look at the ripspeed wing glued to the back of it

but even a 2.0 would need some serious mods to anywhere near a well sorted focus on the dragstrip :D

Just by the pensionermobile. We had one. It's great.

Buy it? ;)

I can't wait to find out which car he picks...

 Don't know which car you drove, but the SR180 has heated mirrors. Auto locking, I'll find out today.

And the best thing about it's pull is, it doesn't stop at 1600rpm :D It actually pulls hard to the redline as standard. More options than the Fabia ... better seats, and a better dashboard in my opinion.

Oh, here you go... :D

Toyota Auris Hatchback 2.2 D-4D SR180 3dr Equipment Review - What Car?

:thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

Snoopie - if you go to the official Toyota website (not the What Car? one, which is plain wrong!) you will see that the SR 180 does not offer auto locking, as you drive off, or selective locking, in that you can unlock the driver's door alone from the key-fob. This alone was enough for my wife to discount this car completely. The heated mirrors were not available on the one I drove, which was one of the first in the UK. There was a blanking plate over the switch to activate them and, having read the owners manual (something you have not done, obviously) it was found that they were an option on the car which I drove.

I don't doubt that it may pull beautifully to the redline, but we don't all drive like complete Muppets, and I maintain that IMHO the dashboard is garish and trying on the eyes at night.

:P

I'm afraid you are wrong, heated mirrors are standard on all SR180 models, so it was definately not the model you drove. It's better to find out what car you've driven, and give details on that, than just make it up by driving the lowest car in the range.

First in UK , ... Aren't you lucky....

If you think the Fabia's dashboard is better than the Auris, you really need to test drive the thousand of other cars available, out of all the car's I've driven, which isn't huge, but its a fair example, I haven't come across one which is as ugly as the Fabia's. It's just pure black, and plain with some buttons on.

Do you get electric rear windows at the back in the Fabia as standard? Cruise Control? No, because they cut costs to stop competing with the bigger names VW/AUDI.

Yes, you have selective locking, on the SR180 again, where you can decide what you'd want to do, lock the doors from the inside without activating the alarm.

Did you actually drive one?

Ps. I work for Toyota. So I don't need the manual, I'm just going to and from the car :D

The interior dial lights are dimmable., and that's not the SR180's seats either.

i sort of agree about the cutting costs bit,but all the vag range have dashes that look and feel like this one,i thnk its a feature, teutonic i believe,or boring to everyone else:D

Seriously,

I would have thought both the VW & CTR (non modified) would be quicker than the chipped fabia vrs in 0-60

But if you were driving into national speed limit from a 30 zone the chipped vrs would have the advantage.

The vw and the honda are in a group above the fabia

So i dont know why people keep comparing them

Polo and jazz are more the fabias bedfellows

But if you were driving into national speed limit from a 30 zone the chipped vrs would have the advantage.

Stop talking ********. Countless times have we established from experiences and ... just general opinions that would never happen, so we do not need dream world experiences added. :thumbdwn:

don't be so harsh,if we both came out of a 30,and an alien had kidnapped every gear of ours except for 5th,you wouldn't see which way i went,by the time your 2 torx started working;)

assuming both the other cars were in the wrong gear.

Got to agree. Sorry about being harsh. I now realise that ... if we both came out of a 30 into 70 and beyond, we'd both be in 6th gear at 10 mph going up a hill.. You would win. Sorry. :P

IMO the Skoda dash is better. I dislike these new fangled dashes which try to appear 'modern'. In my opinion, this is the sort of thing that will age very quickly. I think the Skoda dash is understated, functional and, above all, sophisticated. The black is the finishing touch and, when combined with the interior roof colour, really gives the whole thing a classy feel.

Well given the Fabia Sport is £13k when the vRS comes along I'd expect its going to be £1.5-2k more so it will be in the same ball park.

Also interesting point here the Kia Ceed (Golf size) has a 1.6D common rail pushing out 115bhp for a list £14k but you can get them brand new for £11k 7 years bumper to bumper warranty and could easily DMS it.

Here we go.

Who is talking about the new Fabia?

Original poster is asking about mk1 Fabia vRS, mkIV Golf and EP3 Civic. I point out that the £16k Auris is about £6k over that budget and you tell me I'm wrong 'cos the new vRS will be about the same price?

And I'm sure developing a map for a Kia is top of DMS's priorities:rofl:

use as many big words as you like but its basic and bland :)

that toyota dash is much much nicer :)

IMO the Skoda dash is as brick shaped as it can get. No colour, no shape whatsoever and looked aged the minute it was released. You even get radio controls on the steering wheel, which is showing more effort than Skoda.

But at the end of the day, we all like different things, and every critisim I've read with the Fabia is mainly down to the bland dated interior.

says the man who drives a 20 year old mazda, and an ambulance:rolleyes:

But if you're in to a 'retro 90's look' its a cool dash

I've sat in the front of an Ambulance a few times, never the back, that was always the other people who argued with me.

And the dash is fantastic, depending on what model, but... the sirens, the lights the Laptop like displays and the radio controls, they don't come much better than that.

with a mk 2 octavia you have no room to talk, the only car i've ever owned that i could fall asleep in..........whilst driving it,
