Yep the Superb is going :( shame really as I really did like it but it's 3 year warranty is up and I need to cut the costs down a bit so we have just agreed to buy a 06 plate 1.9tdi Octavia ambiente hatch in silver, test drive was good and it seems to be well looked after so next week it should be all change

Nice work Rob.

Will you henceforth be known as Superbegone?

( Was that clever or what? )

sounds like one of Toms money saving adventures :D

just been looking on't trader tom and 4x4 estates start from £2,900, add to to that an ebay BAM engine/gearbox for 2K and you got yourself a reliable 270bhp 4x4 estate for 5k :D

then wait a while and buy abigger turbo for even more fun :D

you know it makes sense

What really makes sense is to buy this little baby -

2005 SKODA OCTAVIA FSI 4X4 on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Feb-08 16:22:49 GMT)

and drop a TFSi into it

i like your style stu

Back on topic for Rob! ;)

i like your style stu

Sadly I have a little something in the garage at the moment else that might have been a nice project. I happen to know where I can lay my hands on a TFSi engine/box with only 9k miles.

The idea is that by buying this I can cut down on payments(hp) and it has, the Superb needs 4 new tyres £500 + and the new one has new tyres.

Superb needs taxing and they are taxing the Octy for me, and it's group 6 (I think) so I may get some insurance back as the superb is group 9a and it does a few more mpg...so all in I should be better off by buying this...it's done about 15,000 miles and feels new, no dents or dings and it goes reasonably well ...the big plus is I can get things in the boot

Hope you enjoy, Rob. Not driven a Superb, so wouldn't know what I'm missing, but hopefully the Octavia will prove just as good as you remember.

:rofl: Nobody will be able to pronounce that, expecially after a drink

piccie of the car below

Looks very nice Rob,

All you need to do is put a silver surrond round the radio to lift the cabin abit.

Not driven a Superb  .....you don't know what you have been missing .......they are good ....honest

All these people changing cars!! I wonder who'll be next :D;)

Oh, and hands off that gearbox Stu, thats earmarked for my next project ;)

 at Mr Fish ;)

I see where you are coming from Rob. :) I'm assuming you got a good deal on the swap, and at the end of the day, the £/month for the total running costs is what counts - a big outlay such as 4 tyres can really make an impact on cashflow...

Just irritates me when people such as my mums friend, change their car every 35 months on grounds of it needing an MOT - they are on their 4th 1.9TDI Classic Octavia, none of them have done 15k. Such a false economy, but ho hum. Makes me laugh even more that they don't want the same colour twice - this time they have bought a RED one, what kind of idiot does that!

i'd stick with the black myself as that looks out of place to me.

Not if I get there first, it'll be good to reunite it with the engine cover. ;)

Don't suppose it has any other useful parts? ;)
