Fabia Vs Concrete block!

Featured Replies

Bad news, gutted for you. It was probably dislodged by something else hitting the bridge like an overheight foriegn truck which then either did a runner or didnt realise they had hit it. It happens about 7 times a day across the country on average and that is just the railway bridges....

Horrible news mate. Hope that it gets properly sorted and the insurers take care of it all asap.

Road debris especially at night is a nightmare.

I nearly hit a complete sofa-chair that was sat right in the middle of the motorway last week.. Luckily I managed to dart out of the way but it could've have been a real mess....

Naturally you carried on and left it sitting there.

Feeling for you mate, thats not good

That truly is a ****er, At least you weren't hurt.

And with you having the evidence i can't see Network Rail weaseling out of the claim, All the best and keep us posted with the outcome

Geez! that's terrible glad you are ok though but gutted bout your wheels.

Yup me too, i have quite a few spares to go at though, infact that reminds me i should get one sent down to the coaters to be done.

Thanks for reminding me

Bad luck mate. You going through the insurers ?

Feel for you mate i would be gutted as i know you are.

Could you not go though Network rails insurance?

That's bad news :( I used to share an office with a chap who drove an Audi A3 turbo and he came off a motorway and saw a concrete breeze block type thing in the carriageway and opted to straddle it () and obviously ripped the sump and undertray off the car. Got it towed to the local Audi dealer and was very surprised that it only cost him a couple of hundred quid to get it all fixed up and also saved him needing a service for another 10k miles.

You're frigging joking mate......which bridge was it? So sorry to hear this after all the effort you've put into your car recently.

At least you're ok. Can't have my local Vag-com expert/ mafia boss ending up hurt now. :D

The railway bridge between Altofts and the Europort.

Not hurt in anyway just P!ssed off.

At least it give me an excuse to get the car off the road and in the garage for some modding.

Looks like i am in the hilux for a couple of weeks :D such a shame

Damn! Bad luck mate, especially about the wheels, I really liked them.

I agree with the comment about taking Network Rail to the cleaners.

Hmm...it is a narrow point that and dangerous at the best of times. Can't believe the damage to the car though mate. I'm gutted for you. :(

Still, £100 fill ups and bull bar bullying in the Hilux now as you say! :D

hope you get paid out , looks a bit of a mess

so sorry mate at least you are ok and it didnt fall off whilst you were underneath it chin up fella

Bad luck mate :( , it looks like some parts of the damage have occured on a double skin? Is this sound proofing? Im fairly certain my 05 vrs doesnt have this. So maybe the damage isnt so serious.

I hope you get it sorted without too much fuss.

Really sorry to hear of this. I hope that you get suitable compensation for this unfortunate occurence.

For what could have been a whole lot worse, you should thank God, and as many lucky stars as you can see!!

OMG! thats terrible!

i hope they do pay out, lets face it they cant deny its part of their property that caused the damage.

my SWOBO hit a lump of metal off a lorry on the motorway and it tore the sump to shreds, partially taking the big end out while passing through, knackered the underside of the car, before passing out the rear and nearly pulling the rear bumper off!

had no come back to anyone as there wasnt any markings on the metal :( glad yours is a bit more clean cut!

Thats aweful, the stone hit my sump but i guess my sump is harder than stone  Its only grazed it.... but i might get a new one for peice of mind etc.

Just starting to strip the car down, have removed all the carpets from inside and the seats, My plan is to strip the dented area down to the bare metal then weld a series of bolts to the outer skin, then use a slide hammer to pull the dent out. then grind the bolts off and skim with filler.

A nice coat of anti rust primer and base coat then a generous coating of underseal should see it right.

All the bits have been ordered, fuel cooler was £104  total for parts is £384 which i didnt think was bad considering what i am getting :D

At least doing it myself i know its going to be repaired to a very high standard. and its nice and warm in m garage, so tonight i might start stripping the turbo off ;)

???? you stumping up the costs your self ?

initially yes, i need the car back on the road as soon as possible.

Hopefully i can claim the costs back, if not then its just one of those things.... If they reject my claim i am just going to have to fix myself anyway.

I might as well get a head start :(
