It was a tough month. I had written a longer note but connection got lost

We visited Melbourne, Great Ocean Drive, Sydney, South Island inc Queenstown, Auckland and Noosa on the cleverly named Sunshine Coast

just ask me more....

Some stunning photos

I am jealous :(

Wow! Still looking through but there's some fantastic shots there.

You got some stunning weather in NZ - especially Milford Sound! It's not often it stops raining down there!!

Thanks, it was a bit chilly when we arrived in Christchurch (mid nov and it was only 12C having left Sydney at 26C), warmed up when we got down to Queenstown, and Milford was great. They told us it rains 5 days out of 6, so to get a day like that was awesome.

Have to say it was a great trip. I'd maybe have flown down to Queenstown from CRC rather than the drive via Fox, but you live and learn.

Here's what it looked like for us:

Still looks quite stunning with the clouds around, although not quite as photogenic.

Had great trouble not blowing out the highlights in the pictures due to the brightness (he gloats) of sun against snow etc. I guess if the whole reason for a trip was photo hunting you'd need to camp out for a fortnight at Milford!

Have you been up to Auckland to have a go at Dolphin and whale watching, or the america's cup yachting? Both were great. We did a morning on the yacht and 5 hours in the afternoon dolphin spotting. Great fun

I wasn't complaining about the weather we got - it was absolutely awesome - I think it would be in any weather!

We went whale watching at Kaikoura a couple of years back, which was fantastic. We saw a pod of dolphins as well.

On our recent South Island trip we swam with a pod of 300 wild dolphins off the coast of Kaikoura. Absolutely amazing experience despite the 1m swells!

There are some pics from our whale watching trip here New Year Trip 2006

Haven't had a chance to do the yacht thing yet but it's on the list!!

Wish we had managed to get that sort of experience. Swimming with dolphins must have been great. If you see the piccie of mine with the windsurfer, you'll also see a few killer whales following us down the coast, which would when I'd be leaving.

I had a look round the piccies on your site. Very impressive. Those single lane bridges were interesting. Glad we didn't come across that double decker bridge. Well scary looking.

The yacht thing was great. Something worth knowing is they take both the yachts out for a team race once a week.

Pretty sure we'll be back to see more of both countries, perhaps some of the West coast of Oz and some more of the NIsland. Would definitely go back to spend a week in Noosa to relax as well. Crikey that's 3 weeks sorted already
