Super FM reception

Featured Replies

Came out of work today to find my Symphony radio had recorded a 5 minute traffic report from somewhere in Holland. Not bad considering my car's parked at least 200 miles from the Dutch coast!

I got SWMBO to listen to it just to check I wasn't losing it

Luckily I wan't going that way cos it sounded bad :D

does the stream mp3 have this facility?

Not bad!!!!!

I've never worked out how to use that facility always mean to but never get round to reading the manual!!!!! :D

On a similar note now that we have replaced the VAG aerials with Honda ones we can pick up Lincs FM in North West Sheffield now..... And not even on top of a hill etc.....

We had one of the cars at the dealer to have the radio checked out as it was playing up a bit when changing frequencies automatically and they said it was because of the non VAG aerial........ That was untill i showed them the Honda aerial picked up more stations than the VAG one did, Including stuff from Lincolnshire / Nottinghamshire etc.......... They had another look and found it was the aerial lead that was loose on the back of the HU.

Cheers

Dave.

All the OEM skoda range have the ability, you need to set it up and once done it works remarkably well. The function you are looking for is AIM. You configure it to work between certain times after pressing the AIM button.

On mine I can get stations up to around 60 miles depending on conditions, had a few traffic reports from Shropshire region!

how do i get to it on the stream mp3 anyone done it?

Does the stream mp3 not have an AIM button.

The problem with those traffic reports is that the radio station monkeys seem to 'forget' to press the button to end the traffic broadcast, so you end up stuck listening to local radio.

These are not normal traffic broadcasts. Using AIM the HU records into memory traffic reports between certain times regardless of TP being off or on. What this means in practice is as an example: before going to work the stereo will record the traffic news so that you can play it as soon as you get in the car, and not have to wait for it on the radio.

It is very annoying that when they dont cut off, and you end up with someone waffling to the person who has just done the report about what they had for tea last night. When it does work, its fine. Last year when Saga FM became Smooth Radio, they couldn't get the traffic news sequence right, so during the ad break - the 'INFO' came on screen with the louder sound, when the traffic news came on - it went off.

where is the AIM button?

my stream MP3 doesnt have AIM button

the radio siglnals can often travel VERY far...

My friend does some hopspital radio in hull and they've had recordings sent to them from poland or something like that before where the siganl has travelled and theyve picked it up.

Ok, that beats my broken down Dutch lorry :D

Lol... i think its to do with the signals travelling in a straight line... so they like bounce off the atmosphere and then back down to the ground... or summert or nuffin!

mine doesnt have an AIM button unless its called something else, but the owners guide says it has the ability to record traffic news yet cant find how to activate it.

Has yours not got a TP button? Press that and it should activate the function, next time you leave the car and get back in it'll automatically play Dutch traffic reports for you :D

yeap tp is activated.

I'll have a look in the manual, I'm not too sure myself how I set it up apart from some random button pressing :o
