17705 Fault Diagnosis

Also worth compiling a list of whether the cars are mapped and if so, who has done the map. Mines only done it since getting a custom Jabba map.

Darren,

Fezboy was the same with his Jabba Custom too.

Snagsy, there's another thread on here with a list of causes.

Ok then as Johhny said I had the Jabba custom remap on my car and it gave me this problem?

My car had a Revo map on it before the Jabba map and now has an Impossible map both the Revo & IP map gave me no problems

I have no idea why/how you have this problem on a standard car?

My problem was in the Jabba map because when it was put back to standard the 17705 did not happen?

I assume different mapping companies do things differently?

Perhaps, one company adjusts the boost to a certain level (controlled the N75) and in turn decides to adjust the N249 settings in relation to this boost control - if your N249 valve has a slight weakness, but doesn't show when running standard boost it might if it's played with at the time of the remap and increased boost.

Just grasping for ideas - wondering if certain companies fiddle with the N249 valves settings and adjust them when remapping, perhaps some do and some don't hence the different results?

Yeah I don't have a remap, as far as I know!

Yet I have this 17705 code, combined with the sudden boost loss while pulling away sometimes, and occasionally the car seems to run on reduced boost (but this is rare).

The bloke I bought it off didn't say it was remapped, and I really don't think it is.

Calling Skoda dealer in a bit to order the N249....

Bodge, mine does all of the above too...but i'm just used to it now, and cant afford a remap at present, or to start replacing things.

I did have the fault a while back, but at that time it kept throught the EML on, i replaced the lower pressure hose and that got rid of the light, but other issues still there.

Yeah I don't have a remap, as far as I know!

.

Do you know anyone how has a spare boost gauge lying about?

You could hook it up and check?

Or access to vag-com would confirm if it's mapped!

Since my nearest Skoda dealer is 40miles away, Ive got my VRS booked in at a VW dealer on monday.

Not gonna be cheap I guess, but at least they should know more than the last garage.

So i can assume that theres a problem with the Jabba way of mapping a car then? Thats 3 people with jabba maps that have problems, mine when standard was fine and now fezboy has a different map his is fine too. I phoned Jabba a few weeks back and all i got was an offensive argument with them saying that there maps are 100% fine and that my car needs to have more money spent on it on sensors etc. I'v recently fitted a Forge DV and although i dont get as much lag when high spooling through the gears (wragging it) i still have a switchable boost. What i mean is the car doesnt have a turbo untill i drive the car let it warm up fully, pull over turn off the ignition and then restart the engine. Then and only then do i get the benefit of my £500 remap. Problem is if i leave the car to go shopping for an hour i have to do this all over again. Praps Jaspa has given me a special switchable boost without telling me.

Darren

Exactly what i have to do Darren.

Tell me though, not that it's advisable on a cold engine, if you drive on boost from cold...does it then not go into limp mode, and you can get boost for the rest of the trip ?

If i'm reading this right then yes. I have to pull out of my Grove into quite a busy street, if i boot it into a gap of traffic when the engine is still cold then it normally gives me normal power (POWER) For the rest of my journey. Whereas if i let the engine warm up in the safe and fashioned manner, i get to drive a bag of spanners. Interesting how we both have Jaspa maps though.

Darren

Yep, just how mine works (and predictably done this morning)

Let it warm up for 5 miles, put the foot down, nothing, got stopped at lights so switched off, from then on it was as per normal, full boost etc.

:(

Deja Vu  :rubchin:

:P

Stop it, i'm jealous. :D

What power are you registering with the Impossible map? Also how much did you pay for it? Jabba have my money and arent interested now so it looks like i'll have to cut my losses and never use Jabba again.

Darren

Impossible is under £400 if i remember.

If you got the map done recently ask for your money back and the car put back to standard.

Mine was done by the previous owner so no comeback for me. :(

Yes DO THAT ;)

IP map was £340 for custom map :D

I will say the Jabba map DID make good power on Marlins RR @ 238bhp but the torque was still low?

With the IP map it feels smoother across the range and there is more torque

Jabba expect me to drive up to them and pay even more money to them to replace certain sensors and pipework. Jabba wont be getting another penny from me. They know theres a problem with there maps on certain cars but they refuse to accept this openly. As the 1.8T is used in so many VW based cars i wonder if other drivers from the golf forums or Leon forums are having the same troubles? might be worthwile signing up to some other forums and asking a few questions. If Jabba just offered me a refund instead of being difficult it would save all this though.

Darren

Maybe you could mention this problem your all having in the Jabba section on the forum.

I would, but i've not really got any comeback, and Jabba are 5-6hours away from me...so probably not cost effective for me to travel back to them to look at the car.

Plus i dont want to start an Anti-Jabba war !! :)

Anti jabba or not i simply dont trust Jabba with the car.

Darren

Does it drive ok when it is working ?

Or does it surge ? (mine does)
