17705 Fault Diagnosis

Featured Replies

I do sometimes get surging but this is on partial throttle when i back off. I assumed this was just a trait of running the turbo at potentially its very maximum due to the high mapping. To be honest the way the car feels when its running with boost is fine and i have no worries. Problem is i'v spent a lot of money for something that doesnt work properly and the provider has NO aftersales care and just simply doesnt wish to entertain the idea that the software they use may be corrupted, or that there mapping specialist isnt doing a good job, all they say is that they are not to be held accountable in any way.

Darren,

Go to see Mike at Impossible, we all run his maps without all these problems that you, Johnny 50 and others seem to be suffering, he "DOES" give top quality after sales service.

I nagged Fezboy to go there, as he was suffering the same Jabba problems, and he is well pleased, as are numerous others that Des and I have recommended.

If you still have the problem with the Jabba map, that they cannot or will not rectify, then demand your money back, as its obviously not doing what they said it would.

Cheers Gerry. Can Impossible remap over the existing Jabba or do i need to get it put back to standard? I'd honestly not let Jabba go near it again, even to make it standard.

Give Mike a ring on 01634-710777, I think he can either map over, or replace the chip in the ecu, its not a problem, I've seen him do it.

There's a Jabba agent up here in Scotland..

Wonder if they would take a peek at the mapping on mine ?

Anti jabba or not i simply dont trust Jabba with the car.

Darren

Darren, Jabba should put the standard map back on for you and give you your money back. The standard map is readily available and should not cause any problems at all putting it back on. Then get down to impossible with your refund and get another one on.

When i had trouble with my remap the guy was great and offered different maps, suggestions and even a refund.....and mine only cost £99.

I know the vag 1.8t is very temperamental and some have problems and some don't but you have paid a lot of money for a custom remap that simply is not working right. Jabba should be doing everything possible to get a happy customer which is damn good press for them.

Get a refund and don't give in.

Possible causes of 17705 (listed in most common order in my experiance).

Split/deformed vacuum pipes under inlet manifold.

Missaligned or faulty throttle body

Faulty air temp sensor

Boost leak from lower turbo to pancake pipe hose (modified pipe available)

Split diaphragm in DV

Faulty N75

Faulty N249

Faulty MAP sensor (G60 iirc).

Yay my 17705 if fixed!

Thanks to a local VW garage :)

It was the breather hose coming out of the top of the rocker cover, on the right. Not what I thought it would have been, but I know it was one of the possibilities. It was really really soft, and appeared to be clogged up. Anyone understand how that could have caused it?

i changed that hose and it did nothing!

it's only a breather hose, so can't see why it would make any difference to anything!

congratulations anyway!

when was the last time u checked for the code?....

Just an update on this.. My money is on vacume pipes under the manifold... i have Jonny50's car now and there is a definate hissing noise when running and the whole area is covered with oil.

Ill have a proper look at the weekend.

Quick post to let you know how my 17705 problem got solved.

I had a 17536 code coming up that didnt force the EML to come on, but after a few days, the ECU would put 17705 on, bringing the EML on.

The fault was the MAF. Tried loads of other things, pressure test, breather hose etc and the MAF change was the only thing that cured it.

This is 3 weeks later btw, so I'm pretty confident it has been cured.

Which hose is that?

This one is the tricky one (temp repair)

But even a breather pipe can give rise to issue because it enters the air stream post MAF so it will be drawing in unmetered air.
