some annoying problems

Featured Replies

i have an octavia 1.9tdi y reg (2001) estate. its startiing to drive me mad! the rear wash pip has leaked and thus i dont use the rear wash as the pipe squirts water into the back bit where the cd changer is housed!

The drivers footwell is wet and im not sure what is causing it to be so wet! car had been through car wash and its wetter than before!

also the air con started fizzing near steering wheel and took fuse out and thats stopped the noise as air con not on!

any ideas how to solve this? im thinking of taking it to skoda to get looked at or does anyone know a garage in Edinburgh that would be just as good??

cheers

chris

the rear wash pipe is a common problem, just push the wash pipe back onto the joiner, and then put a cable tie around it to help hold it on, foot well dampness was a problem on the early mk4 golfs, was down to to leaks through the front pillars. not sure about the air-con though.

cool! where can i locate the plug at the rear wash as cant find it? im not good when it comes to diy mind you! is it easy to solve the leaks in wheel archs if thats the problem?

passenger side in your boot, pull away the side carpeting, and you should see the washer pipe, should have alittle plastic joiner peice which links the 2 pipes. really not sure about the leak tbh, sure someone on here will be able to hlp though.

The washer pipe may well be under the stacker (if fitted).

I've no idea about the air con, other than that I can't help thinking it's related to your water ingress issue. Check for leaf mould under the cover for the wiper linkage.

the stacker is fitted behind the panel. have taken some pics which i will post later! im no mechanic so my descriptions of my problems may not be exact!

I had exactly the same thing with rear wash pipe.

Firstly washer stopped working and turned out to be disconnected hose right next to motor. Real fun putting the inside trim back on after I'd put cable tie on (as suggested above). That led to load of water under spare tyre which for some reason not draining through drain point there.

Then CD player just packed up. Took out multi-changer and found the offending disconnected pipe that you've shown. However on my 02 hatchback VRS the pipe is on nearside in small section behind wheel arch. Water had collected leaving creamy gunk (probably washer fluid reacting with waxoyl I think) and had nicely soaked the multichanger connection block that was conveniently wrapped in absorbant sponge!

The pipe you have shown had an adjacent connection in my car but i cant see it in your pic. Also, your hose appears to be adjacent to light cluster not wheel arch. Other end should be there somewhere tho!

i cant seem to find the bit it attaches too! car going to skoda as got a wet drivers footwell so they r going to look at rear washer

wet footwell could be caused by a damaged door membrane

Pollen filter under the nearside (passenger) wiper is probably full of leaves and junk. When this happens the thing can allow water to flow down the cabin/engine panel into the passenger footwell. Common problem. Clean the pollen filter out and that should cure it.
