planning a comeback...

Featured Replies

I've been away for a while - but what with the price of fuel continuing it's increase, me and the missus reckon it's time to put my Porsche 924 into temporary retirement, and get a cheap, reliable, efficient car...

and that means back to a Felicia I think.

The porsche replaced a Fabia VRS, which replaced a Fabia Silverline which replaced a Felicia Bohemia...

This will be a second car, as the wife has an Octy 2.0 TDi Elegance, and I've seen a nice blue Bohemia Estate in blue.... you might say we like Skodas :)

So, what should I be looking for? The one I've seen is about £700 with 60ish on the clock and "looks" tidy from the pics. Does the money sound about right/too much/too little?

Any advice appreciated...

Blimey, a Porsche to a Feli

£700 sounds on the nail.

Depends on where you do your research, model and engine.

I paid £745 for mine back in 2006, FSH and rusted arches but just surface rust. the cars still running fine.

Well kept ones hold their value well, and can fetch up to £1k

the Bohemia has nice alloys doesn't it? I think it was a limited edition model.

£700 sound about right to me!!

I think it was a 1.3? What to look for:

- duff thermostat (£50 replacement)

- corroded front struts that are about to collapse (£ouch if replaced at garage)

- noisy timing chain (not really a problem just annoying! expect £150-200 parts and labour at garage for replacement)

- worn lower arm bushes or top strut bushes (you will hear clonks and notice the handling is crap)

- leaking windscreen join (£40+ for new seal and fitted)

- leaking inlet manifold gasket (£5 and a couple of hours labour)

- leaking sunroof seal (just take out and clean)

- gear linkages can get stiff but regular greasing keeps sorted

Nothing major goes wrong really unless you are unlucky. Just remember that you need to set things like valve clearances manually to keep running sweet!

welcome aboard (hopefully)

Porsche did have some input on the design of the Felicia I believe :D

All far too much... I paid £250 for mine FSH, small amounts of rust...

(Spent £100 on things to repair it)

Best car I've ever bought.

I'd try and knock it down to 500-550

if you dont like that one afterall mine is still going for sale, its a hatchback but cant help but try and sell it at every oportunity lol

Thanks for the feedback - hope the car is as good as it looks...

Will keep you updated - I think one way or another there will be a Felicia on our driveway again soon...

Jeffers - where are you based and what are you selling?

Tim

It was the rapid that porsche designed rear suspension

It was the rapid that porsche designed rear suspension

According to the Top gear Favorit review YouTube - Top gear road test Skoda Favorit (1989) Porsche had some input on the engine mounts and suspension of the Favorit. As the Felicia is based on the Favorit I assume it kept the same suspension geometry and engine mounts?

I got one!!!!

Not the Bohemia - but a nice solid 96 LXI Plus Hatch. Zero rust, 6 months tax and MOT til Sept for £500.

Pretty pleased :) Forgot how much fun they were... need to service and clean it but it'll do the job I think.

Not sure what the "plus" adds!!! Central locking and Stereo I guess - cos theres nothing else...
