Briskoda "business card"

Featured Replies

Dunno if this has been though of before, but following up on Faye's excellent (imo) suggestion (and no, Q, it's not another of my corny/original chat up lines!) what about a business card for briskodians ?

I'd happily put a tenner down to get a box of cards. Could always have a couple in the wallet and leave under wipers of unsuspecting skodas you see in various carparks.

So, what do people think? If we want to raise the profile of the site, maybe this would be an opportunity in a "professional" manner? :D

Sounds a great idea to me. Business cards would be more distinctive than the A5 paper flyers that Stimps and I got last time we stopped at South Mimms.

Happy to part with some cash as well.

As said on IRC, if you want something done... do it :P. I'd like to order a few myself too...

edit: and it looks like you just volunteered yourself to organise this :D

I'd organise it. But was thinking more of the lines:

if we get half a dozen or so people or more to do it, we probably stand a better chance of getting a half decent price, in which case some of the money raised can go towards the site (need to pay the extra bandwidth new members are using ;))

I'll start hunting around.

Anyone want to do a quick mock design and post a jpeg of it ?

That's exactly my point. If it looks half decent, we stand a better chance of people taking notice and not just binning the offending flyer thinking briskoda is just an amateurish site ;)

Even better :D

Get some of that artwork that was recently posted... for signatures. That'll do nicely.

Have a price and a place to do it. Just need to decide a few things.

I was thinking the same thing recently, was even thinking about asking my local dealer to put a card into the folder of new Skoda owners, you know the folder that contains the service book :)

I was going to get my son to take the Briskoda Logo from the top of the page with the website address. we have been toying with the logo, but we are having problems tracking doen the correct font.

If some one comes up with what they think should go on the card i will design it for you guys - i can even get some cheap quotes. If you can reply buy the end of play today (friday 28.05.04) i will do something over the weekend and post them up on tuesday (dont have email - net at home)

I spoke to the 'offender' the other day as he is on seat enthusiasts and was at the Ace cafe on tuesday.

I'll be up for some business cards as well.

Obviously the website url, and maybe something like:

Want to get the most out of your car? Visit the premier site for Skoda enthousiasts around the world and discover a brand new side to your car.

It would also be nice to have a space where you can add your nickname to, something like:

This card has been left by _____________ . Hope to see you soon on the forums!

As you can tell I skipped class when they did the corny advertising lines :D.

Ok then:

This card has been left by ................. . A member of www.briskoda.net, The worlds leading English language information source and forum for Skoda owners of all ages and models.

It is free to join and owners of all VAG makes are welcome.

We hope to see you on the forum soon

(you could use either the forum logo or the T-shirt logo in the corner)

been leaving "eyeball" (sorry shown my age) cards on Skoda's for the last 2 years - even had them at the first meet - and that was "Sump" thing special.

Hi,

Here is a visual of a suggested Business Card. Any comments/adjustments welcome.

Looks good. I think maybe the "This card has been left by ..." would be better at the bottom.

Are there any issues with using the official Skoda logo ?

I wondered about the use of the official logo - that's why I avoided it for my sig bar

How about this one, without skoda logo, but outline of fabia/octavia/superb at the bottom and centralised.

Looks cool mate,

Personally, I'd invert the briskoda logo so it's black on white, losing the blacl rectangle around text.

I agree with Jane - I think the handle of the person leaving the card should be at the bottom. You really want to promite the site more than the punter leaving the card!

Out of interest, what are people's motives for using (or not) the official Skoda logo?

Xavier,

I just thought there may be a copyright issue and it could also be taken to imply official endorsement of the site by Skoda.

Skoda Auto CZ are very fussy re use of the Skoda logo and brand as are Skoda UK , - Skoda Owners Clubs across Europe were granted permission for ther aproved use but under very strict guidlines and had to stop using the winged atrrow they had been using for many years. The used Skoda parts place in Poole was taken to court re use of the Skoda name a while ago - they had to pay Skoda UK (may have been settled out of Court) vast sums of money for lost revenue. Use of the official Logo will need authorisation or problems may well occur.

John

If you look at the BRISKODA logo on the card, you will find it is the same as the logo on this site page. ( hope we didnt do anything wrong by this )

When my son and I were doing this, we noticed on previous posts that there were comments that the business card should look professional. :cards:

If we can get the seal of approval from, whoever owns the site, perhaps it could become and official merchandising tool. :woohoo:

Steve

I'm not fuzzy about any of the proposed cards, but I do suggest we drop the 'English Language' bit of it. The cards will only be available in the UK (unless ofcourse someone is interested in it abroad), and last time I checked (this afternoon) everyone spoke english ;)

not counting myself obviously :D
