Whats the next step after an Octavia?

Featured Replies

Here goes..

Just had some thoughts driving back from work as I'm tackling whats the next step up car wise when I'm pretty happy with most of what Ive already got!

I like my leather'ish seats, wheel and gearstick

I love having a sunroof - it is a must for me!

I love the security on the road and the handling

I really like the fact that I can fit in 2x 6ft 6" doors, a ladder a mountain bike, 2 kids and a SWMBO at the same time if I need to.

I like the stereo as its simple(if a bit tinny) and 6 disc CD

I enjoy the 45-55MPG I get from it.

I like the idea that Audi and VW drivers are driving the same chassis at extra cost.

I love my Michelins as I know what they can and cant do and they love the wet

I like the Octavia shape - its got something good about it and its big enough!

I wish it was faster to make overtaking better if needs be- I used to have a 2 litre rover turbo (yes I know thats Kak) but it went like stink!

I wish Skoda Dealers gave a better deal instead of the £80 labour charges

I wonder if people in my street would treat me differently if I had a premium motor like a beemer or merc - but not sure if that matters to me.

Ive been In the same job about 6 years now and I fancy treating myself to something a little special - Ive earned it!

I dont want an estate!

I love the shape of the Audi A6 but I like a hatchback

The Octavia 2 looks okay - I wouldnt say no

Many peeps on here are knocking the new mondeo but the 140tdci seems okay if maybe a bit sluggish and underpowered apparently.

Ive had rude thoughts about a VRS Octy II but I do 40 miles a day at least so I like the runningcosts of diesel + I need a 2nd hand one with a sunroof!

I'd love a 5 series beemer but again no hatchback!

Lexus look good - lovely interiors but no hatchback I dont think..

I wouldnt mind trying a big diesel like a 3.0tdi or something.

Are you bored yet?

OCTAVIA TDI owners of the world,

What are you thinking of getting as the new motor?

What is currently floating your boat? :)

Get another one then

Just buy a Mk2 vRS Diesel and be done with it !

Or keep the one you have, and buy a Fabia vRS for commuting. :)

If you're happy with it, why change? You could always buy some BMW/Audi badges to stick on it :P

Chris

What is currently floating my boat? Unless there's a faster Kia C'eed in the pipeline, nothing.

Only car I'd be interested in if I had to get a new car different to my current one would be an Octy Scout TDi, for some reason really fancy one .

Have to say another Octavia is sounding perfect!!

The new Mazda 6 is definitely worth a look too though :)

Panda 100HP ;)

Panda 100HP ;)

I can see us all converting ! :D

I can't. It's too small, and it's a Fix It Again Toni! ;)

the new skoda superb?! :)

There's the Pro Cee'd out now which is a sportier version of the Cee'd but still a bit behind the competition in power. I did have a nose around the Cee'd, but found it a bit bland and uninspiring. Seemed solidly built and everything, but just not very special.

You could always get a new Vectra :P

According to Autocar, the Pro Cee'd just has the suspension tightened up; same "not quite as fast as the TDi110" engines.

 I never had any probs with any of the wifes Punto's, in fact, the list of squeaks, rattles and niggles with the slug is growing ever longer. I seem to have crossed into the twighlight zone of build quality in the last couple of K miles.

The thing that stops me buying a panda is swmbo. She just doesnt understand  Looked into it about 6 months ago. Can get some great deals.

It also includes a 140bhp "will blow a TDI110 into the weeds" CRDi engine in the line up too ;)

I've never known anyone who's not had build quality and/or reliability issues with a FIAT. The worst being a Punto which was costing more per year to service and MOT than a Nissan Micra (old shape), Honda Civic (likewise) and Citroen Xantia were combined!

If that's a diesel, and the gear ratios are better chosen than on their TDi1.6 (top speed achieved in both 4th and 5th, 2nd and 3rd too short or too long for most real-world overtakes IME), it would be a candidate then.

I have to say, i've just looked up the Kia Cee'd and it looks a great car !

Never even knew it existed until Ken mentioned it.

As I mentioned in some other posts I had a Ceed hire car for a week whils working in rural Suffolk/Norfolk and was very impressed by it once I got over the initial shock/horror of being given a Kia. Quite fancy a Ceed SW a 2ltr TDI should be coming out in a few months. The 1.6 crtdi (113bhp) I had was more than a match for my 110 octavia although it could have done with more sound prrofing on the floor pan and the indicator was on the wrong side although I think that has now changed for the European market.

Just looked on Kia Spain website and 2litre 140 bhp Ceed SW available there

What prices do they come in at ?

The top spec 2.0 CRDi pro_cee'd Sport is 15.5k OTR. Presumably there are discounts to be had as well.

Chris

Still pricey, but looks to be a nice solid car.

Yep I had a poke around a regular Cee'd and it certainly had a solid feel but felt a bit too dull old Eurobox for me. Definitely worth putting on any list though and a big step up from Kia's of old!

Chris

Thats why i've never looked in that direction, cant help thinking of a Kia Pride ! :D
