I am thinking of getting one of these from the US

In Dash PC - VW AUDI Skoda iPod adapter (direct digital interface)

Has anybody got one ?

Would I incur custom charges ?

My HU is a Stream ( Non MP3 ) am I correct in assuming it is a Din2 type HU ?

My Ipod is an 80GB classic.

Seems to do the same as the Dension but for half the price.

Also the Dension seems to have problems with the Stream HU ( According to iPod Car Kit Direct when I spoke to them on the phone )

Any help would be very appreciated.

If you find a good solution let me know. I just took delivery of my 06 Octy Ambiente with a Stream (note not MP3) HU. Ideally I'd like to keep the OEM HU, interface my iPod touch and keep the multi changer. Not asking a lot I know

Anyone have any suggestions. I've seen the odd Stream MP3 on eBay but if I'm gonna change the HU I might be tempted to go for something else anyway. I fitted a Sony MP3 compatible unit in my Fabia VRS. Does anyone have a good solution using either the OEM HU or an aftermarket unit that will control the OEM changer ?

from reading the above the grom would appear to offer cd functionality as well as full control of the ipod

Controls are slightly limited, fwd/rew on head unit, easy way is to remove Ipod, select what ya want and pop back in.

They told me it is very hit and miss with the Stream HUs.

Some work OK some don't .

Apparently it may be that there is varying firmware in different units.

At the moment I am using a Griffin FM transmitter - completely useless hissy horrible thing.

I just want a good solution that works :orb_upset

I also used the Griffin, not great. Tbh I had no probs at all with the Dension.

Just ordered the Grom from the States. Fingers crossed :-)

I can tell you now that the CD Autochanger will no longer work as you use this connection to plug in the GROM.

I will keep you all posted.

I think that the crucial word is 'in-dash' which means the Audience unit to me as this has a 6 CD changer built into the HU. So I think they are saying you can have the 6 CD changer of the Audience HU run with the Ipod controller.

Has anybody been using the GROM interface? If so any feedback?

It does seem pretty cheap at around £40-50.

I have the Stream mp3 unit and had this done if it helps

It took the engineer about 1 hour to get it all working, then a trip to Comet to buy the belkin lead and charger (about £60.00 in all) and I get to keep the CD changer in the boot.

I don't know if it will work on the non mp3 unit but it's woth checking out.
