VRs Ugrade ?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I currently own a octavia elegance 2.0 auto and thinking about a change. Dont wanna spend more than 5 k.

I like the octavia VRs model but thing is, as i own an octy already, i feel like im buying same car again !

Is there a big difference between mine and the VRs ? and would i be doin the right thing here !

cheers

Depends what you look for in a car, the vRS is a much firmer ride and will handle better than your elegance. And the interior is also quite firm.

The vRS is a manual so it wont be a case of planting your right foot and forgetting about it.

From what i know, the 2.0 engine is utter pants so the 1.8 20v turbo will certainly feel alot quicker. 115 bhp compared to 180 in the vRS

Things like tyres, brakes etc are more expensive as they are all bigger. If you also fill it with vpower like most vRS drivers then thats going to cost more aswell.. depends how much you want to go faster really?:cool:

Well.. besides the obvious jump from 115 bhp to 180 there are the other points such as it looks a lot better.. interiors a lot nicer (half leather) and the usual extras like climate control trip comp and all round electric windows.

If your thinking of getting one go have a look at a few, 5k would get you a nice motor... bought mine last year (03 plate hatch with 38k FSSH and the usuals for 5650). Only probler I've had is temperature sensor.

In terms of fuel... probably gonna be about the same as your 2 litre... I can get 35mpg driving round sensibly and 39mpg on the motorway doing 70-80... Check how much your insurance costs first... I'm 22 and mines £950... ouch!

If you are even in the slightest bit impressed with the way the 2.0 auto drives, handles, looks etc.. you will 'probably' be blown away the first time you drive the vRS (I'm assuming you havn't already?). Performance, handling and stopping power should make enough of a difference to sway your opinion of getting another Octy. You should be able to get a good example with highish mileage for the money.. BUT.. why not consider an Elegance with the 1.8t engine, or maybe even a 4x4 Octy? Perhaps the money you save could go on suspension and a remap (if that sort of thing thakes your fancy?). Having had a vRS and now a 4x4, each have their own advantages but TBH, I'm happier with the 4x4.

I reckon get a vrs... they look way better than the 4x4 or elegance...plus you won't need to mod it to get 180 bhp...

que My VRS is better than your 4x4 arguments:rofl::rofl:

I don't get why the VRS isn't 4x4... is it to save weight or something? 4x4 would be cool if it didn't add to much weight... Just got to admit I'm a softy for the big "growly" front and the green calipers...looks mint as standard. I don't think I'm gonna modify it at all... except maybe adding a splitter at the front (mainly to protect the bumper from high kerbs in car parks lol). Though... have seen a nice look vrs on here with fog lights, looks mint...

Are the VRS 's a true performance car ?

Its better to think of the vRS as a warm hatch rather than a hot hatch! Its a bit more sensible than other cars.

Are the VRS 's a true performance car ?

They were 5 or 6 years ago. Things have come on a hell of a lot in the last 2 years.

Darren

vRS was never a 'hot hatch' , but is a very capable mile muncher

Are the VRS 's a true performance car ?

Don't know - never had mine over 140 :(:(
