I take your points Matt. But what grates most is Apple's rather sycophantic marketing campaign, which puts the product across as the best thing since sliced bread.

Steve

Naa ive not had a mind melt I just annoyed at people who think the camera on a phone is as good a decent normal digital camera so the iPhone must be crap as the camera isnt the best avaliable.

I know its not the prefect phone by a long way

I do like Apple computers and OS X, it's just their "we're better than you" advertising and Steve Jobs in general that puts me off - but would I like any of their products if Steve hadn't returned...

Was interested when I was going to get a free one.Didn't happen though and I presume it is virtually out of date now ?

Sure the next big thing in mobiles will be along soon.

Whichever phone is the first to do 24FPS pr0n will win big time ;)

I agree about the 3g... i have a T-Mobile MDA Vario 3 which supports both 3g and HSDPA (up to 3.6MBps) but it just drains the battery sooo much.

Only ever use it if im watching youtube videos etc all the other time just have it switched to gsm mode and use standard gprs which is perfect for just checking emails and staying signed into messenger all day.

Though it does seem silly to bring out a device that prides itself so much on its internet capabilities and only give it EGDE!

p.s. generally i love apple's products especially the macbook air  but the iPhone just doesn't do it for me im afraid... too hyped up for what it really is!

My big gripe with the iPhone is that people don't want the phone because it's a half decent phone, people want it because apple make it. Good advertising, but for those in the know there are far superior phones out there that don't have the money thrown at advertising.

Both the iphone and N95 will be yesterdays news soon anyway. But I do think the iPhone is a case of expensive style over substance.

ARM, the company that produces the majority of the worlds mobile device chips (and evolved originally from Acorn Computers!), now makes 1Ghz mobile processors, and multicore mobile chips as well.

I agree with all of you on here that its not the cheapest and yea the N95 looks amazing as its a good phone and free on a contract.

As for the advertising........as much as some dont like it. Its that what has made the company a success IMO but yea again it can be a bit OTT

I love my N95 for being a phone, camera and a texting tool.

I love my iPod touch as a music/video player.

I wouldn't have an iPhone purely down to the touch texting nonsense.

If I was given one I would nt complain, but I would not buy wone. It's not worth the £250+18 month contract @ £30 odd per month for a low capacity ipod and phone. I'd rather save my cash and get a better phone for £50 and contract and use the rest on a proper iPod with a decent capacity.

Couldn't have put it better!

I agree with this as well. I'd hate to work for Mr Jobs but I also think Apple would be nowhere near where they are without Jobs or someone like him.

I actually think the iPhone is ahead of it's time; here's why: Apple always have a plan. I think they are looking slightly ahead to the time when there is blanket WiFi coverage in most developed countries & then they'll stick a VOIP client on the iPhone/iPod & lose the expensive cellphone hardware. Not something you can really sell to your new telecom partners!

I know other mobiles support WiFi & have done for some time but I think the iPhone is different because the intention from the start is a WiFi mini computer with a phone tacked on 'for now'.

Finally, I'm a big Apple fan. I know a few people who are Apple fans but none of us want an iPhone. Yet. I'm sure that's going to change.

Everyone I know who's got an iphone wishes they hadnt due to the lack of features phones have had for nearly 10 years - namely MMS.

The last time people wished they hadnt fallen for the sales pitch was the razr!

Ilike the way that its marketed as the best MP3 player... yes there good but there are better. the creative zen for example, you can get an 8gb version and then plug in another 8gb SD card doubling it. its less then a nano has a bigger screen and a Drag and drop interface. cant go wrong there! (although i am an apple bitch as i own two ipods:flamed:) But as for iphones... would rather have a SE w960 Walkman were around first im afraid ;)
