I just got my new phone via work - I have gone from an LG Shine to the iPhone, so far I have had no problems and really like it.

Poll is up to see if you have one ect..

Not seen the iPhone, but have had a play with an iTouch and was very impressed by it. I'd happily have one if they weren't so expensive and they supplied a stylus

That was my view - Due to the phone being free from work... I'm sure I can get used to it :D

or sell it...

its a two handed phone.... that annoys me :thumbdwn:

If I was given one I would nt complain, but I would not buy wone. It's not worth the £250+18 month contract @ £30 odd per month for a low capacity ipod and phone. I'd rather save my cash and get a better phone for £50 and contract and use the rest on a proper iPod with a decent capacity.

My boss has got one which he got unlocked as soon as he got it.I did fancy one but due to a lack of features i'm waiting fr the 3g version.

You can unlock them for free but this company is good regarding unlocking if you want the latest firmware.

Not a massive fan, but I don't fit into any of the poll categories :)

Like the concept, but it's lacking in features. Needs more capacity, 3G, video capability and a better camera!

For me, the N95 fulfils my needs much better than the iPhone could.

Steve

Won't touch anything prefixed by an 'i' on principle. Marketing nonsense.

Not interested to be honest: I only use my phone to make calls/send texts anyway. My phone's got all sorts of nonsense on it that I've never used.

Besides which, i'd probably only drop it and break it.

Don't hate them, but that is the option closest to how I feel.

Why pay silly money for a GSM phone which isn't even 3G capable. You could browse faster and as well on an N95 etc.

Never seen one outside the TV adverts. My PAYG personal phone still has £9.something of the £10 credit I put on it 2 years ago. Does that give a flavour? :P

(work phone used all the time, before you get to thinking I'm an old technophobe)

Yes i have one and love it.

Now ok so i work for a company

Yes its a good phone for what it does do and the more you use it the better it gets.

It doesnt need a stylus as it adapts to your handwriting style and key presses plus it doesnt respond to a stylus tap. I have big fingers and can type fine on it in either landscape or portrate mode.

You can use the phone fine 1 handed as well. Th only time i use it two handed is when i use the web browser and im filling in a form of something.

I know it lacks somethings that people want but are pointless

i.e. 3G - why it drains the battery like mad and when you get edge coverage it can be quicker than 3G data on an N95

Better camera - Why? If you only use it to send picture messages then any phone will convert them to the same quality as the iPhone. You will only ever see the benefit of a better camera when you print them out or view them on a PC

What it does need is a flash, low battery alarm and the ablilty to send an MMS!

Sorry if it seams like a rant but you could say that i give this info out a few times a day :D

Thanks for setting me straight on that  I gave up on it after a few hours because it hadn't adapted and trying to accurately type using the keyboard was getting frustrating. A stylus would have made it much easier, imho....

But the PiePhone doesnt support MMS so what use is the camera?

Im not really fussed about cameras, it just happens that because my '95 has a decent camera, im more inclined to use it :D

Well EDGE uses the battery a lot quicker than GSM, it's like saying why do people want broadband when a modem is good enough.

3G and 3.5G are a lot faster than edge and when I can get the N95 for free these days why would i pay silly money for another apple product.

I mean then I might have to install iTunes to synch it and then get all the quicktime crap, then have the safari browser set to default install as an "update" even then I don't have it installed. ;)

Apple are not all great you know. The iPhone has done very well considering just how basic a device it really is, but then that is what you pay marketing for.

:iagree: - am NOT amused that apple tried to install safari automagically recently

As a phone, it depends what you want... S60 nokia devices are far more powerful and capable if thats what you want from a phone.... OK, i admit the iphone SDK is a step in the right direction, but the fact the T&C's are still restrictive... no VOIP or alternate browsing, must be approved and downloaded/sold thru itunes etc etc. wonder how long it will take before software choice gets to Symbian levels??

If you want something to pose with... well thats personal choice, but also i know what i personally think of people who buy iphones for that reason ;)

Well Said. I think given all the hype for this phone it wasn't actually what I was expecting at all. Point is - It was free and I will only have it for 6 Months :D

some very strong anti-apple/ N95 fanboys in this thread....

The N95, if we're honest; is a bit of a brick. Plus, if we're serious about pictures, you would use a dedicated camera. For incidental use, the iPhone is acceptable. Majority of mobile phones are 2-3 megapodels anyway.....

Yes, edge is a bit slower than 3g in practice perhaps, but for real world....I'm either near a wifi point or a proper of, or it's not time sensitive, so I can live with it. Seriously, I had a 3g phone the last twelve months - never went on the net, made one test video call and sent 5 mms.....

As for the capacity argument - I'm running around with 2800 songs on the iPhone. Can't thing I'll need more than that (though I do have another 1000 on the pc just in case)

Summary - horse for courses.

You dont have to tell me that its not all great as i know first hand ;)

Im not saying that you dont need 3G its just that for browsing without WiFi it works fine and isnt as bad as people think it is.

I dont have a problem with iTunes but then again i have a mac so it runs a million times better compared to a windows machine.

Anyway you trying to say that im a poser with my iPhone the Col? Would it help if i told you i didnt pay for it :D

I have had a play with one and I think I'd get sick to death of that text keypad!

Also, I don't see how 'I don't have a mobile' is a relevant option on a poll about whether you like/want an iphone?

sorry, but that reads like it you've had a mind meld with Steve Jobs - spinning

deficiencies into "features" :D

had to vote No - I hate them even though I just don't want one

I really like the text keypad - Sure it's different but I prefer it to the normal button bashing. The auto-word-replace/Predictive Words off.

They are awkward to press, especially with nails. you miss the key.

Naa ive not had a mind melt I just annoyed at people who think the camera on a phone is as good a decent normal digital camera so the iPhone must be crap as the camera isnt the best avaliable.

I know its not the prefect phone by a long way

My only gripe's with the Iphone are these

1. 3G support, there is none, I know there is a rumoured european edition with 3g support, but it's a US product hurried out for europe

2. Camera, point taken that it's never going to be as good as a stand alone, but sometimes you are out with the kids or you find something amusing and the phone is to hand and "snap", got it. 2MP is very old hat these days compared with N95's etc

3. Hype, I just hate all the hype surrounding it, it's an outstanding MP3 player with a second rate phone bundled into it.

4. Cost, doing it the legit way through O2 is hellishly expensive when you can get N95 8GB's and the like for free with better contract deals.

For me, the Iphone offers so much potential, that's not fully realised for the UK Market, at a price bordering on extorsion. I actually do like it, and would have one for free ... but stand by my points above :)
