Fabia vRS 6th restriction

Featured Replies

I have a feeling that my Fabia RS in electronically restricted (limited) in 6th gear to obout 4300rpm. Could that be true?

Because before the remap the top speed was exactly the same as now (160bhp), and now it has the same top speed (according to speedo) if I drive downhill than if I drive uphill:confused:

Your Fabia is restricted in 6th because of the power you have, not because of any electronic limiter. ;)

A remap doesnt affect top speed, just decreases the time to get there

In theory more horsepower should result in a higher top speed should it not:confused:

However, at 4000+ RPM I can imagine no matter how good the remap, surely a TDI will struggle to breathe

Depending on the remap etc I'd say a higher top speed would be normal, but only slightly. I only had the Furby for 5 mins before it was remapped but it would do just under 140 on the speedo. After remap it would reach 150 on the speedo but you'd really have to push it. I think if you did a poll and asked remapped furby owners what top speeds they've achieved (within reason of course) then I wouldn't be surprised if they all got higher than standard.

It can also affect top end performance, but you don't see big gains because of the big jumps in bhp required to give a few extra mph's (the Fabia is far from aerodynamic) :D

If it was electronically limited, I'd expect it to bounce off a "rev-limiter", whereas I suspect you just don't have enough power to go any faster....

Yeah but marginally

Don't you guys stress out about doing 140?I I'm not talking from a legal point of view, but from the potential engine damage you could be doing? I don't tend to push mine further than 90... or am I just worrying for nothing?!

Surely isnt the strain the same in say 5th gear at 4k rpm the same as 4k rpm in 6th. There abouts?

My previous hyundai had a 4 speed automatic gearbox, 4th was an overdrive so you could cruise in 4th but not accelerate. So I used to switch off the overdrive

I once spent about 20 minutes continously on the rev limiter (6.5k:eek:) in 3rd gear doing X amount of speed

So that's why it now rattles like a broken thermos:D

i think you have a point!

You're hitting peak power and you've got no more shove I'm afraid! It's working perfectly

Remember the fabia is shaped like a brick, so you'll need much more power or some aerodynamic tweaks? to get it to go faster

The amount of power needed to hit say the rev limiter in 6th gear is far greater than what you would get from a remap. A remap on a vRS to say 180BHP will give you a higher top speed, but only another 5mph maybe depending on things like headwind, road gradient.

To go a lot faster, you will need mega power due to the drag created.

I can only make 145 on the gps with 218 bhp.... Car needs restyling to go faster I'm afraid, or like Manny says, ALOT more power.

If I had some gold stars I'd give you one haha (claps hands). Did you not think, I'll ease off or did you want to blow it up

I've not done a top-speed run, but with my prior 220bhp it would reach 140 and then progress would slow a bit, and the brick aerodynamics start making a whistling noise as they battle around the car.

The more power you have, you get there faster, but beyond that? Well, I'll see what mine does when the new upgrades go on. (autobahns/runway of course)

I guess if you get it to 155MPH it will be as fast as any high powered VAG group car, I'm guessing the Superb 2.8V6 is the Skoda of choice for those with their own autobahn:D

I think you'll upset the 2.0l Fabia drivers with that remark! ;)

Chris

I struggle past 88mph for some reason, my tyres seem to catch light and then my radio always starts playing Chuck Berry funnily

I did a VAGCOM scan to see what was wrong but ross tech wiki doesnt seem to cover it.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

If you removed all the windows and taped up the panel gaps, you may get to 89mph.

It's because your past the turbo boost so theres no more turbo pull or kick.

My furby is remapped to 173bhp rr tested and it will NOT go above 130mph, it will sit at this all day and night
