Cheers mate:thumbup:

We had water coming in to our 1999 1.6i. Screen misted up and we could hear water sloshing around during cornering. Never found where it came from but found a lo-tech solution. Seems there was a drain area that runs from the windscreen bonnet area Follow the water flow from screen to under bonnet - and exits through the wheel arch. It regulalry gets bunged up with leaf mulch, and backfilled somewhere near the glove compartment. I probed the area with a garden cane, about 3mm, and rodded through. Water poured out! Now just rod through every 2-4 months (more in Autumn as wife parks under trees!).

Hope this is helpful.

Very helpful mate and will help others to. I did this, but didnt find much debris.

Welcome to the forum mate

I found half a plantpot of crap in each arch when I pulled it out!

Lets hope this is the end of the sage for you mate.

do you need to take the wheel arch liners off to get to the exit for the scuttle drains?

Yeah, just undo the lower screws to have a look, but its easy enought to take off the whole lot and put back on, about 5 screws should release half way to clean the lot out.

Yep, definatly an unfinished weld on my car. Just dropped it in to the dealer to have the ding sorted. There was a police octavia in so i asked if i could pop the bonnet and the weld was complete. Going to send my letter to skoda uk tomorrow and see what i get back from them. Im on the bus now, i hate public transport, Grrrrr. Thank god for ipods and 3G to entertain me. Have a good day everyone.

Update.

The ding and scratch have now been sorted by the dealer and I'm happy with the finish. They used dent devils for peoples reference.

any news mate with the leak?

any news mate with the leak?

Leak access point is sealed with silicon and my letter has gone to Skoda UK

found where my leak comes from, the grommit in the scuttle tray that the bonnet release cable runs through into the car had come out, am resealing it all with silicone, and hopefully that will fix it! you might want to check yours too as it looks like a kind of weak point as the cable obviously moves back and forward over time and has managed to work its way loose.

Done it mate as a precaution.

Are you sure its a weld anyhow and not just the run of seam sealer? Cars arent seam welded only spot welded every few inches (small round mark, bit like a hole punch mark but no hole if you get me).

Sounds like its just a bit of seam sealer thats missing.

Yeah, speaking to a mate this is what he said.

Can you buy this stuff ?

Yeah that will do just fine.

Might have a few water leak issues, but hey ho, no carpets to worry about just let it run out :)

Well done on fiding the leak though, its not always easy, I know ive done a few recently, VW's are far worse for leaks that any Skoda I worked on.

I wish I could repair it myself, but the area in impossible to get at. My letter has gone to skoda, showing my dissapointment and I know its out of warranty, but you never know.

Worse case is I have to get a garage to do the work and pay myself.

Just had a call from Skoda and I have to take my car to halesowen skoda accident repair centre to get a quote on all the repair work needed to my car with regards the leak.

Its looking good.

ADDED: Booked car in tomorrow so they can quote for work to be done.

sounds good mate at least you havent got to dip into you own pocket and they'll sort all the problems i bet that would cost skoda a fourtune ha ha

Mluton, those pics are hardcore stripping;>, mine is in the garage minus its interior due to a blown heater matrix, love the engine bay work you have done!

You are right, the mk2 golf is a pig for waterleaks!

I have water coming in to my fabia estate aswell ! Only on the passenger side and it runs all the way to the back passenger side too.i have noticed that on mine also the trim on the roof where you would fit a roof rack is missing and there are holes that are covered with tape ! Could this be allowing water to get in to my car ?

Your roof channel could have a very small crack in it, I had this and only found it be replicating the water ingress

this thread might help you as i posted some pics and other suggestions.of leaking areas
