Fabia Hatch wiper jet

Featured Replies

Noticed that my wiper jet was moving around with the wiper arm (2004 fabia elegance hatch) (looked kinda cool, but it was leaking too)

So after putting it off for some better weather, I took the inside of the tailgate off this afternoon to see if I could find out what was wrong, couldn't see anything so I disassembled further and took the wiper assembly apart to find out that the hollow shaft that connects the washer jet pipe on the inside of the tailgate to the actual jet has snapped :s

A quick phonecall to the dealers to see if it's a user serviceable part and guess what, it isn't :thumbdwn:

unless anyone else knows it is (it's a bit of a hike down to the dealers to double check the picture he was looking at) I'm looking at about £80 for something so simple.

Gonna try looking round the scrapyards :(

Try your local vw dealer, I'm sure they do a repair kit. I found this out after I had bought a new motor complete off ebay for £29 - doh!!!

i changed mine cos it was turning with the wiper arm. can't remember a price now but £30 seems to ring a bell.

unless they've twigged that this bit brakes in fabias and have hiked the price up

thanks for that, I'll pay a visit to a vw dealer over the weekend

I have recently bought the replacement wiper motor assembly. As far as I can see there is not any parts that would be replaceable/repairable as it is sold as one part.

£82 from the local VW dealer.

SMWBO had the same problem on her furby. Dealer replaced the wiper motor under warranty. :) All working as it should now. If you want to try a parts factor (notice you're in yorkshire so you could try Andrew Page), IIRC the Bosch part number for the motor is: 0 390 201 592 - it may need the connector adapted to fit. Obviously the parts factor can confirm the part number if you give them your reg/chassis number. The motor is common across the VAG range, and fits the Seat Leon&Toledo, Fabia, Golf Mk4 and VW Passat estate (upto 2005), in case you're going down the breaker's yard route. HTH

Mine did this courtesy of a collapsing bike rack. I just took off the bit that covers it (with the slot in for the spray to come out), pulled out the nozzle, gave it a good clean, smeared some Vaseline where shown on the attached pic (although all the way round, not just at the sides like it looks in the picture! ), and pushed it back into place. Job done!

HTH :)

Fellas, please read the initial post.

The washer nozzle is a push fit into the (normally fixed) washer tube, which is fitted through the centre of the wiper spindle. With age/corrosion, the tube shears off inside the spindle and then rotates with the wiper arm. This may look cool, but aint right:finger:

It is possible to dismantle the whole assembly to replace the tube (don't ask) if you have a new tube to replace it with. I have done it, and I believe there is a repair kit availablefrom VW dealers.

I hope usandstuff can verify this in due course (or not):D:D:D
