MP3 Player?

Featured Replies

Is there a handy way I can get an AUX lead from my MP3 player to play through the stereo? It's an Elegance spec octavia so has the 6-CD changer in the boot. Wouldn't mind losing it if I can use the inputs from it to run an MP3 player. I'd keep the CD changer there though for re-sale.

Or am I better off getting one of those MP3 jobbies from Halfords?

Is it a CD or Cassette player in the dash?

I found that those cassete adapters with a 3.5m jack on the end worked fine with my walkman 'phone.

I bought an MP3 head unit for mine and removed both the factory fit headunit and cd autochanger. It takes MP3 CD's and 2Gb SD cards so it's ldeal for me as I'd had a Kenwood 6-CD autochanger in my last three cars but due to the time I spend in the car I was swapping the discs in the caddy at least once a week. It has DIN outputs for an amplifier along with a AUX connector for MP3/sh!tepod as well as a front USB conector for a memory stick. I'd definitely recommend it.

Try Ipod MP3 Car Stereo Adapters - Skoda

you probably need the CTVSKX001, plugs into the CD-changer socket at one end and into the headphone jack on your Mp3 player at the other end.

Halfrauds has a sale on ipod input head units(advert in todays Sun) all around £100,and control your i pod from the unit,. I think the JVC one has my name on it. lol

just realised I should have posted this in the ICE forum, sorry

Cheers guys. Plenty of options. I'm doing a 2500mile round trip to the Alps this summer so need something to listen to! The boot will be filled with luggage and there will be a bike rack on tow bar, the even 6 CDs will become worn out before we get to Dover (coming from Belfast)... and won't be able to change them! French radio is just dire!!

I think the AUX cable to replace the CD changer input sounds the best option. I have an MP3 Player with 300 odd tracks on it and my mate has an Apple I****e with even more.

have you pulled out the stereo to see what connections you have at the back? if you can make a mp3 lead you should be able to see 3 pins that you will need, aux in left, aux in right and aux earth. if you got these then you can make a simple lead up. if not have you thought of using an fm transmitter.

Why not try one of those little things that tunes in to a free radio station??

Might work ok?

Cheers

This might seem expensive, but they are great bits of kit. They just plug into the CD Changer cable and run through the head unit.

It reads the ID3 tags on your MP3's and then uses voice prompts to speak back to you .. artist / genre etc etc.

I have one in mine and you can move them from car to car if you change

I just bought one of those as I wanted to use my iPod but keep the 6-disc changer as well, thought I would make the following points for anyone considering getting one:

1. The cassette deck has to spool the dummy cogs inside the cassette, so unless you have the stereo turned up loud it makes a noise like it is fast-forwarding a tape all the time.

2. You will need to lift the flap of the cassette deck up while you eject the adaptor otherwise it will foul on the flap and possibly damage your head unit (as I've found out!)
