Fitted new aero wiper arms today.

Featured Replies

I decided to buy the aero wiper kit from VW Speed but through their E-bay auction as I was needing new wipers anyway.

I've fitted them to my VW Bora but it's the same kit that fits the Octavia.

Bit of a struggle to remove the old ones but after a few minutes waggling then they came free.

Fitted the new ones in seconds and I'd have to say it's one of the best mods I've done to date. They're not just better at removing the water without streaking or juddering but look so much better and are quieter.

They only cost £59.99 plus £7 P&P, for anyone thinking of doing this mod. I'm sure there will be more at the same price on E-bay soon but phoning them they would probably match the price. Delivered within 2 days as well.

I can post pics if anyone wants to see them on the car.

They were genuine VAG parts and included the arms and wipers for £66.99 delivered.

I'd fully agree on the benefits of this 'mod'. I did to my vRS and then the 4x4, well worth the money IMO.

Or you could just buy retro-fit blades from Bosch or Valeo and save yourself some money :)

I tried the retro fit on my Octy then on my Bora but to be honest these are worth the extra and when it comestime to get new wiper I just need to get the blades.

Also if I decide to change cars I can put the old arms back on and flog the aero arms quite easily.

If they're the same thing, how are they work extra?

I just don't understand how they can be worth the extra £40 if the ONLY difference between them is the way in which the blade attaches to the arm?

The whole arm sits flatter to the screen and they seem to keep the pressure better along the blade. The arm is designed for the aero blade rather than the retro-fit ones which are a made up design to fit the existing arms.

Looking out the windscreen you can now hardly see the arms so the air will pass over them better reducing noise, but I recon I can sell them on for probably £20-£25 when the time comes so they aren't really £40 more expensive.

i recently fitted the aero wiper kit to my octy and must admit i was dissapointed with them:thumbdwn:.the drivers side is ok , but the passenger side judders at anything over 60 mph, and i got so fed up with the noise ,i removed the passenger side one and replaced it with a standard one.:(

That plus you can get new aero OEM blades for £20 a pair quite easily but the retrofit ones are more.

I think they're ace. Then again our NSL is 62mph so maybe they do judder at higher speeds :D:angel:

I only paid £20 for my conversion blades so it makes the oem ones expensive IMO as its just the rubber you buy isnt it?

I find the drivers side blade starts to lift off slightly at speed and then makes the screen smeary (is that a real word?).

I will be changing to some PIAA wipers soon (when finances and SWMBO allow)

Same here :)
