Gotta problem:confused: Favorit has had dodgy windscreen wipers for some time...seems to be a mix of fuse problem and something else. Yesterday all the instruments onthe dashboard went down ( speedo, temp, rev, petrol). I have checked all fuses, no problem there, have checked around for any other problems...can't see anything else:( So, any idea what's going on and how I can solve this little problem....battery fine but battery light on when I run the engine. Thanks y'all:)

It's would be the entire fuse box (eletric contact). I have changed it with a new piece for my Favorit (October '93).

i would suggest checking the earth terminal next to the steering column if your instrument cluster is not working...

also i would test to see if the plugs on the back of the fuse box are nice and secure

does your windscreen washer work still??? does the rear wiper still work???

Thanks for the suggestions...am currently looking at everything. Rear windscreen wiper broken, screenwasher also defunt on front wiper system.......is the earth next to the steering column in th engine bay or inside the drivers compartment?

Oh! No! really!? the whole fuse box......is this easy to change?

the earth for the instrument cluster is next the steering column under a the cover

the earth for the washer motor is on the left hand side of the engine bay, you should be able to follow the wire from the motor

Tom, thanks for your suggestion, haven't been able to find the earth for the steering column...I have taken off the cover under the steering wheel....everything is dry and looks secure...should I be looking elsewhere?

I have owned a 1996 Felicia GLX from brand new that I bought from the agents here in Barbados and am still the proud owner of it but a week ago I was faced with the following problem.

I was driving and when I reached my destination I switched off the engine but when I switched off the headlights they did not go out. I had to disconnect the battery until I was ready to go home.

I got it checked out the next morning but as soon as I got by the auto electrician the lights went out. I still left the car to get checked. the electrician checked it and said he did not find a problem.

Another night i went home and the lights went out when switched off but sometime during the night they came back on by themselves (woke up in the a.m to find the lights on) again I took the car to get checked, as soon as I got by the electrician the problem stopped again. No Joke. As it is I am still getting the problem. What i realized though was that when I am not getting the problem and I had not disconnected the battery lead; as soon as I unlock the car the lights would come on and refuse to go out.

The guy I checked the last time told me it could be either the trafficator switch or a switch/unit that is found behind the ignition switch.

Is anyone familiar with this problem, any suggestions would be welcome.

Had a similar problem with a favorit, it was a dry solder on the fusebox PCB board that was to blame. Would intermittently not connect due to heat expansion and contraction on the board. a new dollop of solder sorted the problem out.

Yes we do, however it is really hot here, around 30 deg C

the earth is actually on the support bar that is welded between the bulkhead and the steering column support - which is directly underneath the dashboard itself and either requires the nimblest hands on earth or a dashboard strip (which is easier than it sounds)

most likely fusebox but the other stuff is odd. i would check that earth point first personally, and the water squirter could be a different issue, because the squirty motors pack up quite easily and frequently.
