Weekend Car Reccomendations

Featured Replies

I want to get a car to use on weekends and the like to keep a bit of mileage off of my Fabia (only supposed to do 10k a year) and also something to have a bit of fun in. Can't be an MX5 or similar, as it needs to be fully practical and useable for day to day driving if required,

So Far I have looked at

BMW 8 Series - All too old, unreliable and expensive

Lexus Soarer 2.5 Bi-Turbo - Seems Ideal but some are looking tatty

Mitsubishi FTO - Looks nice!

Definatley looking towards old school GT cars

Preferably want something Turbo'd that is easily tuned and worked on by myself as a little project

I want to do a limited mileage policy and I only want to use it saturdays, sundays and every other wednesday. Budget is around 5k

Any suggestions?

Nissan 200sx 2.0 turbo

Easy power upgrades, good for sideways action and looks cool

Go for the s14a face lift and manual and youll have a machine.

Plus the engines on a timing chain so very strong indeed.

I don't see how a GT car would be anymore practical than an MX5 ?

What about an Audi Quattro? Seriously cool, quick and practical.

Only downside is Ashes to Ashes connection and prices on the rise as a consequence.

Land Rover defender. you can have just as much fun going slow in the mud as fast on the road

I'm looking at getting a weekend car... spending more like £500-1000 though. And as above will be looking at Suzuki SJ's/Samurais for some mini offroad fun

Mazda RX-7, put some slicks on the back and go driftin!

evo 5-6 proper old school and one of the quickest evos they made, you can pick a decent clean car up for £8000,

i looked at getting one but insurance for me at 20 with 3years no claims and a clean license was £4517 third part  lol

Porsche 928 - or if you want something a little less extreme, 944. Can get an excellent example of either for the money.

300ZX its an barge now but more or less bullet proof and should cost next to nowt to insure and two turbo's

around 5k you could get a series 1 Escort RS Turbo.
