Contributing to the Vet's fees

Recommended Posts

(new topic relating to Stig1's damaged dog post)

Could be done via Paypal gift or one of the donation sites - see an earlier post for an idea on that.

UPDATE:Garry (grr666) has set this in motion - see his post below.

In essence, you should send a paypal gift to [email protected]. To do this go to your paypal website (www.paypal.co.uk for uk) and either login and choose "send money to friends or family" or select the "not a member" option to do the same thing using your credit or debit card.

By sending money to friends or family & not for goods or services the transaction is free of charges.

I'll leave my message below for interest's sake in case anyone wants to know more.

Regards, Mike

Following some Google™ research there are various ways of online donating to registered charities (ref 1, ref 2) but I can find only one so far that doesn't require the registered charity status - paypal (ref 3).

What is required is someone with a business paypal account to set up a "donation" button which then needs to appear on a website so donors can click and donate. Paypal does tax the donations at its usual rates (3-4% IIRC) but otherwise there should be no other costs. Paypal accounts can accept payments via paypal, credit/debit cards and texts from mobiles. Don't know what facilities the mods can or are able to offer for such but if it helps I can set up a donate button on my business paypal account and the button could be included on a forum post about donating. If we go this way I will need a trusty to audit the monies I receive and then hand over.

If Stig 1's in agreement the easiest way is for him to IM people who want to donate his sort code, account number and account holders name and just transfer him direct online from your bank account, but if he's not comfortable with that then it's easy to do individually via paypal and pay them the commission. It's dead easy- providing you've both got a paypal account the sender just needs his email address.

Think sites like just giving are just for charities so wouldn't be suitable?

simples..... ;)

I've been in touch with the member in question. I've been out this evening but am home

now and I see that someone has already done what I was going to do and start a thread

to try and raise some money toward his vet fees. Having recently suffered redundancy

in his family a £1000 plus vet bill is the last thing he needs.

I have a simple solution, we donate directly to his paypal account in the form

of gift payments, I'll start the ball rolling with a donation and post a link to this

thread in my signature. If others could do the same then awareness should soon

spread around the forum and we should be able to collectively make a nice chunk

toward his vet bills.

Make your gift payments to [email protected]

I know financially times are hard, but even a couple of quid will help.

If like me you were as appalled by the injuries to his dog as I was, you'll give as much as you can

to try and help with coping with this awful event which has landed on his doorstep.

Please post here just to say you've donated, you don't have to say how much you gave

but please just post a message of support and let us all know you're one of the good guys.

And I'd just like to thank you in advance on behalf of Stig who is far to proud to ask for help

himself. Help put a smile back on his face.

Thanks

Garry

Dig deep briskodians and lets all show stig that not everyone is bad and

that there are good people out there.

In my post above there is the code to put a donate button linked

to stigs account onto the forum/website. I just don't know how to make it work...

Any techy types out there who wish to help get the button up on the forum somehow please

copy the code direct from my post and do what you have to to make it work.

Here it is again just for the sake of it.

<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post" target="_top">

<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_donations">

<input type="hidden" name="business" value="[email protected]">

<input type="hidden" name="lc" value="GB">

<input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="Briskoda vet bill assistance">

<input type="hidden" name="no_note" value="0">

<input type="hidden" name="currency_code" value="GBP">

Log into your PayPal account (go to www.paypal.co.uk), then click on the Send Money tab at the top. It should all be straight forward from there, but don't forget to choose the 'I'm sending money to family or friends' option.

Ill donate on Thursday. That's pay day for me. Of it wasn't for the kindness ad generosity of friends and family I wouldn't have had my doggy for another 8 years.

I've donated and I'll PM stig (Richard) now and let him know this thread is here.

I don't do facebook but if anybody can get the appeal for help some more exposure

on there then maybe between us we can pick up the tab for his vet's bill.

That would truly be something special.

Thanks again :)

Cheers Gary,

I've sent Richard a donation. Seems to have worked ok as it said there was no fes to pay, which is nice cause paypal have had a few quid off me over the years

All the best
