Question about Eibach springs

Well yeah plus the trolley jack and long piece of wood to force the shock upwards out of the clamp. At one point before that I was thinking about giving up, but it was a good job my mate was there - what a guy :thumb: I owe him a few pints now!

Any of you guys told your insurance you've dropped your cars ? Did it affect your premium ? I ask as I'm with Prudential and I think they'll take a dim view... Any recommendations on companies that are friendly to modifying Furbys ?

Having read the fun you had fitting Im glad that Jabba are fitting mine, thanks Dave dont mind the cost of fitting especialy at the GB price. :)

Yeah, I'd be interested to hear what effect the springs have on insurance?

I would say that mid policy, you will get shafted, as insurance companies are like that. I did all my mods as my insurance was due for renewal, then phoned Chriss Knott, who provided me with a policy, including all of the mods and my 9 pts, for the same price as my old policy was without mods declared.

HTH

lol just looked at the boot pic.....forgot ow big the boot was without a false floor in....thought it was a "new bigger boot" from skoda....lol

I'm in the process of fitting 25mm lowering Eibachs to my Furby and have just noticed the two collars that are included with the spring kit.

I've contacted Eibach and here's the result:

The collars are intended to be attached to either end of the steering rack to restrict travel, thereby minimising the likelyhood of rubbing due to the lowered stance. However, after discussion with one of their techy guys I get the impression that rubbing is not an issue in every case therefore collar fitting could be omitted. With this knowledge, I'm just going to do so and if rubbing becomes an issue then I'll fit them at a later date. Here's hoping I'm in luck and that I won't regret the omission. I'm a wee bit apprehensive though, as my Furby runs on 17" mk1 Octys which are 7.5 as opposed to the standard 16's which are 6.5's.

I'll report back my findings within the next few days.

Incidentally, have any others with 17" x 7.5 who have lowered on Eibachs

had any issues with rubbing?

its not really rubbing as such , it is a slight knock due the roll bar hitting the steering rod when on a lock , this is due to the different angle the steering arm is at when its on the lowering Eibachs , i wouldn't worry about it , i don't think anybody has ever fitted them , as it involves quite a bit of stripping of the rack to fit them , HTH

If youve not fitted your springs yet, its a good idea to chop a couple of bits of your bumpstops out when you change the springs... with the eibachs on, the bumpstops are already touching the dampers, making a harsh ride on motorways.
