The Int. light 2nd generation Farbe Thread! (LED Ambient Lighting Colours)

Featured Replies

Get your colours out for the lads! So, the possiblitly of changing the default internal ambient lighting LED to anything you want via VCDS  was intriguing but potentially rather time consiming. So I thought how about a thread dedicated to you tinkerers to show off your custom colours. Maybe save some folks some time setting their preferred RGBs depending on trim colours.

Here's mine for a beige L&K interior with a 'Plum Purple' setting - Red: 102 Green: 0 Blue: 102 (I found a full purple setting too bright):

I've gone with plain old purple for the time being. Red 255, Green 0, Blue 255.

Compliments the beige nicely, as does the 'Plum Purple'

That looks good, might have to get someone with VCDS to do mine :)

I assume that when you do this you can't update the menu colour wording so you still have it displaying a tick box for warm white even though you've changed your leds to purple?

Got mine set as Cool White, Blue and Red. Wish I had VCDS so I could tweak them when I fancied a change but it does look rather complex.

Correct (as far as we know at the moment).

I've had a root around and can't as yet find an obvious way to change the wording for the menu. It might be part of the Columbus' OS and therefore extremely difficult to alter.

How did you get the screen saver on the Columbus?

How did you get the screen saver on the Columbus?

See pages 14/15 of the Columbus Owners Manual as long as you mean the clock display that is.

It's the Columbus image viewer. You can have a slideshow whilst still driving (unlike video or DVD). It's just a bunch of wallpaper I got for my PC in 1080p.

In the MY2017 there will be 12 colors available from factory. Question is how to enable it since my car will be one of the last produced in MY2016 (ends within week 22).

It may need a new controller? time will tell.

Red (255 / 0 / 0):

Kids love the blue but would like red to match the exterior - just need to hook up with a VCDS member.

Which controller/bytes via VCDS to change to cool white ?

Look in the VCDS section it's all in there.

On mobile at the moment so can't provide the link easily.

The link to how to change the settings is in my first post! Just click on the word "VCDS" at the top of the page.

If the 6.5" Bolero is replaced with the new 8"  head unit, would it allow the 10 colors menu come up? i dont know the software is in the head unit or elsewhere.

Mine also MY2016 and played with my friends MY2017 and enable some options with VCDS, seems mostly same interface and menu items but ambient light option page is different only.

Can the lighting be set to automatically change colour? say every five minutes randomly change from one colour to the next. Would keep children (and adults) entertained.

No coding option for that ( thank god lol)

I have twelve colour choices but I only use three red, green and blue

Does anyone have any news yet about whether it is possible to update/upgrade to the my17 colour choices from the 3 colour choice of first production units?

It seems @Samo78 is submitting his MY16 model for a firmware update check (thread). If there is an update available then I hope he lets us know what changes there are, if any.
