  1. Wading with a normal car; No deeper than the bottom of the hub cap or whatever the alloy wheel equivalent is. (below the sills?) Drive slowly keeping the *small bow wave* rolling in front of you. I rounded a shallow bend onto a straight section of road (a familiar daily journey to work) I was moving at around 30mph and found myself looking at a small lake, too late to brake so I aimed for the crown of the road and changed down a gear to avoid water intake. I aquaplaned across the water on the engine under panel the front wheels acting like rudders until they gripped the road again, safe, dried the brakes out and carried on. Seasons Greetings, Stay Safe. * PS my manager bent the con rods on his diesel engine.
  2. Unless it is obvious, I always clean out the under bonnet gutters, usually a good place to start
  3. I am always asked; Do the same bolts hold the steel spare on?
  4. I am running on the original tyres (they built a tyre factory next door to Skoda ) using the Eco tyre pressures and don't have a problem
  5. Thank you very much, it has been a long time since I drove at night!
  6. I had not noticed before but I started the car in the dark and the only lights on the instrument panel were the sweep needles. I turned the light control to first (on) position and the instruments lit up. Is this normal? I had not driven in the dark since March due to corona virus.
  7. Having had one air-con radiator holed and replaced at great cost I bought black aluminium grill mesh and edging strip. I made top and bottom grill guards which I zip tied discreetly in place on both my Yeti.
  8. Open your car windows my Monte makes a lovely growl, but I would not want to hear it all the time.
  9. I ordered it and the fitting service, in my case the towbar and harness arrived the fitter took several weeks. It all worked well when fitted but I had 7 pin instead of 13 pin the trailer was 13 pin ..... Bother! It towed the 750kg trailer well but there was a problem with the trailer and it had to go back.
  10. My Fabia is noisy after a run and the cooling water continues to circulate as it cools down. Yours is a similar car?
  11. Exhaust manifold needs tightning/new gasket?
  12. I set the tyre pressures to ECO and find it handles well
  13. I was coming out of a supermarket car park and pulled out safely when the brakes hammered on, the only thing that could have caused it was a car that pulled up to the post box opposite as I pulled out. I was lucky, I did not collect another vehicle up my boot lid Try explaining that to an insurance company.
  14. Surprisingly it is about 50/50, they are often driving two tone hatchbacks and drive well.
  15. I now tow a Dandy Designer Camper but my Monte Carlo Estate 110 tdi is the same 110 as my Yeti were (yes Yeti is plural) It does make me smile when it pulls away from lights (briskly of course)
  16. Lovely day, I am cruising at the legal limit (or there abouts) and a Fabia appears beside me it drops a cog and accelerates away in that chase me, chase me, manner of the young. This is especially the case if I should happen to overtake them first (which does happen) It never happened with my Yeti.
  17. Yup, found it! I had to grope about myself (lazy ****** was too busy) I could barely get my hand in the gap.
  18. I cannot get down to look nowadays (the camera has a tilt-able view screen) I will get my lad to take a look. Thank you.
  19. Now where do you fit the breakaway cable to be legal.?
  20. Not too pretty from down here (see photo) but reflection from gravel makes the incision look huge It looks very handsome from normal viewing angles though. Full electrics fitted to satisfy warranty.
  21. Not at the moment, there is Storm Alex in progress, it is an extremely heavy rain scenario.
  22. PF Jones arranged, mobile towbar fitter arrived today in the rain and fitted a Westphalia towbar with a detachable towball. It needed a bigger hole in the skirt than the normal Fabias. The official plug in electrics were awkward but the fitter (Steve) made it look easy. I had this harness fitted as the car is under warranty.

If you have a warranty you must use a dedicated wiring harness, or lose it!
