  1. Even with the 1896 update I am getting pretty much weekly OTA updates, so don't expect them to stop.
  2. A month ago I would have said stay away, my car suffered really badly from the ACC issue, over 50% of the time on every journey it would suffer, but.... with the latest software fix it has been sorted, It has worked perfectly for a month or so now and now I would say yes, go for it. Its a great car, they just hadn't sorted the software out properly for all the different hardware configurations. The Mk4 is a massive step up from the Mk3/3.5. I do agree with the touchscreen but that's in every car now, so not much you can do about that, my biggest gripe with the touchscreen is the fact they couldn't be bothered swapping the Home button to the correct side for RHD cars, its a long reach.... As everyone here states, its all about getting the latest software, if you buy a car in warranty that wont be a problem. I would not touch one out of warranty with old software.
  3. Not sure I agree with the diesel part, I have the 150 and have had the vRS TDi, both great engines that work well with the DSG, I routinely get over 70mpg on reasonable (70 ish mph) runs. Engine is smooth pulls well and is easy to live with. AdBlue is not an issue if you drive decent length journeys, I hardly ever fill up as its not needed if the car runs at a decent speed for a reasonable journey. I agree I would not have a diesel for a town car that would be where it does not work, but I wouldn't get a petrol either, I would go electric. IMO If you do decent mileage or like the torque of diesels they are still a fantastic choice. Having just come from a Golf R DSG back to diesel it is definitely a more relaxing drive and saves some money, although the Golf R was not exciting in any way, rather dull to drive, even with 306bhp.
  4. I have been using the USB C and its perfect, no issues at all with it. In fact its made having a Dashcam sooo easy, I have the Nextbase 522GW though, not sure if that is different. GPS speed display never has any issues although it can be a bit slow some mornings to start, once its locked it never misses a beat. The one thing on my car that does work!! (Well at the moment! :-))
  5. I have the heated windscreen in mine and I have both TomTom (Phone) and Nextbase camera, both with no issues at all. The Camera is located just to the bottom right of my rear view mirror, it takes a few minutes to acquire the GPS signal but tracks fine when acquired. My phone is above the dash on the RHS (Holder from windscreen, never had an issue with either signal strength (Phone) or GPS reception for TomTom.
  6. That software update fixed my ACC issues, I got it a coupe of weeks ago, it seems to be a vast improvement. Does not fix Synch not remembering on climate, but in comparison that's a minor issue compared to those it fixed.
  7. My old head unit was replaced due to SOS issues could only take an earlier version of software apparently that's why the changed it so the car could get the latest software to fix the problems.
  8. I will try that because mine doesn't remember, but, unsurprisingly I haven't tried that one yet! Didn't even know you could synch the other way, but tbh with the software they have developed anything could be possible.
  9. Mine was fixed by a software update apparently, It came on twice in 3 weeks, same as you it went off after shutting down and re-starting. Not seen again since software fix for the ACC.
  10. Well pleased it appears mine is fixed by software v1896, I hope!! My head unit was replaced a few months ago, I don't think my old head unit would have taken the new software though...
  11. Yes, I can confirm for the first time my long run went without a hitch with the ACC!! Fingers crossed its permanent fix.... Synch on the climate wont remember at all but I can live with that, its great to finally have the ACC working properly.... I hope!
  12. My software updated (at gargae last week) from 1806 to 1896, Nav from 22.1 to 22.3. Since then i have had 2 OTA updates as well, no number changes though. I will know more tomorrow if it has fixed anything!!
  13. Funny I had mine in last week for the update that was suposed to fix everything. It is a big change, will find out tomorrow how it has worked as its the first long run on the motoway where i use ACC all the time... fingers crossed. It did reset all my setting, but they only had one key... Skoda UK alsoi said it was the software fix that would solve my problems. My software chngerd from 1806 to 1896, and Nav database from 22.1 to 22.3. Everything else remained the same.
  14. Obviously the case for diesel hasnt changed, if you do reasonable mileage it will always be the winner, my 150 TDi does very similar to MCG1975, long term (7,000 miles) 65mpg, highest 82mpg average speed 45mph (not great! Thats not me drivimng slowly by choice!! but traffic or town roads impacting my motorway averages) . With resale values and cost of fuels I am miles better with a diesel than Petrol and due to my journeys and lack of charging point at work, Electric is not an option, unless I want to sit having long coffees every journey, one day electric will win, but for me not yet, petrol is only workable for short town journeys (where diesel is least efficient) and fun. But as ever its all about your personal driving requirements. For me it will remain petrol for small (ish!!) fun car and town car, large long hauler ... diesel. I would love Hydrogen to get mainstream, but like electric that will have to wait! I think Electric is more of a threat to petrol than diesel, I would have an electric car over my petrols any day, cost is stopping me, but irrelevant of cost, I wouldn't have an electric over my diesel due to range and charge options.
  15. I used it along with TomTom on my phone, the car makes bizzar route suggestions and does not know some roads exists, I was on a B road that goes directly home (about 3 miles) and the car wanted me to join the motorway and add 15 miles to a 3 mile journey and add abot 15 minutes.... it is in my opinion a waste of time compared to Waze, Google Maps and Tomtom. I for one would never trust the car routing.
  16. Well, sadly I can confirm the OTA update does not fix the ACC issues, in fact it doesnt seem to have fixed anything in my car. ACC still thinks its in Europe and undertaking for at least 50 % of my journeys. My car is in for another issue today (Oil Sensor fault) and Skoda Uk have said that they are updating the software which they hope will fix all of the issues..... I have no doubt it won't, but..... you never know...
  17. Yes I had that end of last week. Not sure yet if it has helped anything, but for the first time my Monday commute (11 miles of motorway) my ACC worked properly, didn't brake for inside traffic once.... Might be luck who knows I will see if it goes wrong again. Skoda UK said my car (which was booked in on 22 Apr for an Oil Sensor fault) is getting an update that should fix the ACC and Travel Assist.... I wont be holding my breath on it.... something else will probably go wrong!!
  18. I would love to know what Skoda think 'imminent' means, probably months if not years! After all they have known about the huge number of software issues they have for 18 months now!
  19. I assume you have tried different cables, I had a similar issue with a dodgy cable.... Sorry, ignore just re-read the post...
  20. I had a DTUK box some years ago for my (at the time) diesel vRS, main reason was I could remove it.. which worked out important!! It was fine, definitely more power, however...... I took the car to the Alps in the Summer (2015) it was a 6 month old car and all was fine until it got really hot outside, I pulled in for lunch and when i pulled back out the car was in limp mode... It was in and out of limp mode for the rest of the journey. Got there and ripped the box out, car was absolutely fine, never had another issue with the car. So personally i wouldn't touch one with a barge pole, however if you do, make sure you declare it on your insurance because it will invalidate your insurance if you have a crash!
  21. It will be interesting to see if your Travel Assist works, mine (factory fitted) does not work since the last (5 months ago) software update to fix the SOS and popping, Skoda UK said it won't work until they get the ACC 'fix' that was due this month but as ever no idea when that (if at all) will come.
  22. Not sure, but interestingly I had the same as you on my Land Rover Discovery Sport, rear brakes replaced ridiculously early, the dealer claimed it was normal and due to the cars stability control, Cruise control and other software stuff that basically used the rear brakes to permanently control the car.... They will need to fit larger brakes on the rear not smaller soon!
  23. Coding is an interesting one, I did it on my last few cars up to Golf 7.5. However I was concerned in one respect, I was happy selling the car back to a dealer with adaptions (none power related), but if you sell it to a private buyer when the car is in warranty that's another issue if you fail to declare them....... You are potentially selling the car and significant hassle/risk if something goes wrong, they may win the case in court but its your fault for doing it and not declaring it. I definitely wont be touching the Mk4 software until Skoda fix the sh!te software first, I don't want to give them any excuse or any chance of trying to blame me, because they will if they can!
  24. Just to get ahead, what battery goes into the key? I might need to buy some in advance!
  25. That's a big win, makes sense, perhaps its designed for IV cars!! Although I doubt Skoda even considered it!!
