  1. Same, just checked mine is due a recall, but I have not been informed by Skoda.
  2. Mine is fine, and tbh I dont really notice the engine noise, it definately is not like the old diesels. When driving you cant really tell the difference as other noises are louder. Unless you particularly dislike a diesel engine noise, i would not worry about it. The only time I notice it is when the gearbox holds the revs when cold too long but thats just because it goes a bit mad occaisionaly, not a real issue. When stopped the engine shuts down so no noise.
  3. Hi, a new one for my car, but just seeing if anyone else had had both their Temp and Fuel gauge flash during driving? I noticed it happening at the back end of a 2 hour drive, both the Temp on the left and Fuel on the right started flashing irregularly, then stopped flashing then started again, happened for about 10 mins, all fine since, but no idea why it happened. Main part of the dash was fine with no flashes at all. Possibly just another 'feature' of the electronics!
  4. The ACC Radar should detect where the car is ahead, ahead, left or right of you, and then it can work it out from that.. or not as was the problem with ACC prior to the software fix when it kept thinking it was in Europe and slammed the brakes on when legally overtaking in the UK on dual carriageways!!
  5. I have always had the 'lag' on my car. If I get to a busy junction I just pop it into Sport and that seems to remove it and pulling away is less stressful!
  6. Not sure how the warranty has expired? My 70 Plate is under warranty until Nov, so 21 plate should be Mar next year.....
  7. Mine has AdBlue, I think it came with the Mk4, my older Mk3 facelift didn't have it. I have had no issues at all with it, filled it up a couple of times no problems so far. Range is very good when full, especially if you do reasonably long journeys, where it uses very little.
  8. I think its a great engine, especially with DSG. Great economy (circa 70mpg easily on sensible driving on steady runs) pulls well, AdBlue not an issue for me, topped it up once and no issues. Software, as with all Mk4 Octavia's, is the main issue but if it has 1941 you should be in a good place as its fixed most of the issues. I agree on the extended warranty, they did a £35 a month deal for me (mine is getting to the 3 year point) for 2 years and also includes two services and MoTs, plus usual breakdown and recovery, so basically £840 for two years, a no brainer for me as I will now be keeping it.
  9. Local dealer updated the car to 1941 at the service last week, I had to ask for them to do it and tell them what was wrong but at least they did it!
  10. I have had Skoda dealers trying to book my car in for its 10000/ 1 year service for the last year. After getting fed up with emails and phone calls I rang my local dealer and explained the car is happy and it does not need a service for another year (time and mileage around 2 years after last service). They said it should be 1 year so i got them to check when the last service was. Long story short they came back and appologised and said yes the car is right it is on the variable service schedule so book when the car says so. I still get emails telling me I am late for a service but ignore them. I think its more about touting for more work than the car needing anything (apart from software updates 😒) .
  11. Sorry Varoom, can I also join the bandwagon please? Can I have the link as I don't trust my dealer in their ability or will to upgrade to the new software. Sad but this group and you are way ahead of the dealerships!
  12. I have the button on my car, but I don't have Travel Assist, I checked against the build specification from the dealer. Mine is a 2020 car as well, so it may be you like me have the button but not the capability, it was odd as cars without Travel Assist usually didn't have the button. Another Skoda 'quirk' I guess.
  13. There are a few things to consider as to what you want, personally I love the DSG and the 2.0D engine they go brilliantly together and make for really easy and relaxing cruising. Price is not as clear as described above, for like for like petrol v diesel you would get the SE-L DSG then there is only £1500 between them, diesel is now pretty much the same as petrol in cost and I get 70mpg regularly on reasonable runs. Also it will depend on what you are looking at Hatch or Estate, Diesel Estates tend to hold much more value than petrol but not necessarily so for hatch. Personally I think the SE-L is the sweet spot spec wise to go for (unless you want the vRS). I have not driven the 1.5 petrol but I am sure its a good engine, tbh its not the engines / DSG that is the problem with the car!! The electronic issues kill it and may well kill future values as its pretty common knowledge they exist. I rarely get a day without some erroneous warning coming on. even with the 'latest' software.. in fact I often find the newer software causes new faults as quickly as it fixes old ones. Today's was 'Front Assist Not Available' who knows what I will get tomorrow.... Good luck though with whatever you decide. Overall I still like my car, even though it drives me mad!!
  14. I thought it was great, I had it on my last Golf R, I kept it in comfort, mostly due to our roads being so bad. If you have specced it... keep it.
  15. Sadly mine took the over the air update a day or so ago... system re-boot again this morning so no change for mine. Might have to book it in so its recorded as a problem, even though I know they wont fix it....
  16. Yep, the latest software does not stop the re-boots and blank scree sadly.
  17. Sadly I don't use any USB devices either, and I use only occasionally use Apple Carplay so it looks like none of that is the issue sadly causing my re-boots.
  18. Bugger, I guess mine will be the same... It will be great if they let you know what it was?
  19. Has anyone had the re-boot associated with an Orange PDC warning? Mine is starting to system reboot (media) every few days, always in the first 5 mins of a journey and recently it has been preceded by a PDC warning... It seems to be happening more and more, now it recently re-booted twice before it worked properly. Compared with the issues I have had in the past this is just annoying, but if it keeps getting worse.... and the warranty runs out in November, so keen to chase this one down. I am on the latest software.
  20. Never really thought about them, so no issues for me.
  21. Mine usually does as Jorgeminator says, lift off slowly, it coats, lift off quickly, it engine brakes. but as with everything Mk4 it doesn't always do the same thing!!
  22. Simple starter, there is loads you can learn on how to drive the DSG box on other threads specifically focused on the way it works, or doesn't!! Its a very clever box that has two clutches so it always has a gear 'ready' for you next gear change, the issue is unless you know how to drive it it may have the wrong gear selected and then take a second or so to select the correct one, but overall its great imho. For routine driving just put it in Fwd or Reverse and that's it.... let the box do the rest. Mine auto selects Park when I turn the engine off so I really do very little gear selecting. Due to it being a bit lazy, if you select Drive (D/S by pulling back on the lever!) twice it puts it in Sports mode (S on the dash) this gives a quicker get away on busy roundabouts for me and if you want to do sporty driving/overtaking. Select it again and it will go back to Drive (D in dash). Paddles are for changing gear while in Auto (Drive or Sport), so for example you can use the gears to slow you down on a hill if you use the paddles to select a higher/lower gear, You can just drive the car as a manual with the paddles, but leave the selector in Auto its fine. If you have been using the paddles for a bit, sometimes mine automatically re-selects Auto but if not hold the paddle down and it will go back to Auto from manual. If in doubt just give it a go, you can't harm the box because it won't let you! D/S (Drive / Sport) for forward and R for reverse... that's it really!
  23. I am slightly confused, are you talking about the DSG selector in the Mk4? Its small and convenient for me, nothing wrong with it at all. If you don't like that one you should try the Porsche Taycan one!!
  24. Good luck with that, mine is random at best, but I don't use the SatNav for routing as its so poor. I personally use TomTom for the traffic and speed cameras, nice and easy through Apple Carplay, but so is Waze/Google..... The car occasionally get the traffic information right and updates whether or not you are using it to navigate, but I would never rely on it.
  25. The two that are in you price range (A and B), are both good engines, but your driving requirements will determine which is better for you. I have the exact model and setup you mention in a). Its a great car and very relaxing to drive, being a good diesel it has great economy on decent journeys and cheap to run. Works well with the DSG but if you are using it for short journeys go for Petrol. SE L has plenty of Tech, possibly too much, but those issues are for another thread! Whatever you go for make sure the software is up to date and the ACC works as it should. Not sure I would go for a manual car in either form but 1.5 petrol owners will know more of what that setup is like. DSG definitely works fine for the 2.0TDi. Mine has a few extras but standard SE L trim is fine imho.
