Adaptive Cruise Control bug
They probably did, but got rid anyway, the dealer I am sure wouldn't tell the truth! They just want to get rid of it and hope the new user doesn't find out, I bet not everyone uses ACC, it work better on single carriageways!! Although I wont use mine in case it rams the brakes on for cars in the lay-by... When I bought mine I found a few months later a hand written list of faults in the glove-box... dealer never told me it had any and I specifically asked about it... Luckily they were the usual SOS and popping and random emergency 'Brake' warning. They have all been resolved by my local dealer (bought from a dealer 150 miles away!) on mine, but I gained the problematic (to be kind, dangerous to be fair) ACC and total failure of Travel Assist... win some lose some with Skoda!! Still waiting for Skda UK to get back to me about the March 'super' update that will fix everything...🤣

Great on the motorway…
I agree, there are times (most of the time) it can't, for obvious reasons, look ahead so its applying the brakes much more than a driver would when looking ahead two or more cars. I often turn it to 'standby' to stop it braking unnecessarily when all it needs is lift off the throttle earlier. I guess brakes are going to need replacing much earlier because of ACC; at night I saw (rear brake lights coming on) just how much it uses the brakes when I had previously thought it was just 'lifting off'. Not a fault, it just cant look ahead of whats in front of it.

Great on the motorway…
I have to agree on the car being a good long distance cruiser, far better imho than the Mk3, I always get 65+mpg out of mine doing just over 70mph (TDi 150), and it seems much quieter or more relaxing somehow. SE L Seats are 'relaxed' not much side support, which is a shame, and relatively firm, but I find them OK. Unfortunately I am one of many with ACC issues so its not relaxing at all, it works less than 20% of the time and I spend 90% of my time on motorway/dual carriageways so sadly I am starting to hate the car, they had better get a fix out soon... but I wont be holding my breath. Definitely my last Skoda sadly.

Annoying sun reflections from driver or passenger door chrome list
I found you get used to it, it was exactly the same with my last golf.

Shame about the engines/gearbox
Not all bad then!!

Adaptive Cruise Control bug
I think Skoda Finance might be the difference. I have complained to Skoda UK, who phoned a number of times in Jan, and have agreed to financial 'compensation' when it is fixed. My dealer also started to keep my advised but soon forgot!! I will be asking them both again! Will be interesting if they reply.

Roof bars - what do you have?
If I remember my Mk3 had totally different roof rails to my Mk4, I will be very surprised if the rail connecting ends fit. However you might be able to just get replacement ends.

Shame about the engines/gearbox
I wonder if its the same clutch that VW used in the Golf R (2018) it wasn't capable of taking the power (Torque) of the R so the R manual had its torque limited due to the clutch. It was pretty routine to hear of manual Golf R drivers needing clutch replacements really early and then going for 'upgrades' themselves as it was sooo bad. DSG had no issues at all with the power, another reason I went DSG when I did and never looked back.

The good, the (not so) bad and definitely not ugly Octavia iV Estate
I have to say, while I have some serious issues with my car... electronic issues!!! I do think the car is far far better than the Mk3 FL I had. I have changed like for like cars, SE L 2.0 TDi, and, for me, its a far better car in just about every aspect except the electronic gremlins (I am being kind to Skoda here!). 1. While I agree with your first point with regard to Lane assist and the crazy amount of time the car tells me to 'Brake' when nothing is around, it seems all cars are going this way sadly. 2. For me the sound is better in the Mk4, but that is probably just a personal thing, I wish I could change the radio logos though! 3. Couldn't agree more! 4. Not noticed 5. Mine are fine, no real issues or difference for UK driving. 6. I absolutely love the fact that they have a USB C port by the rear view mirror, and two USB C in the front is great, for me I never really saw the point of the old style 12 v cigarette lighter port. 7. I love electric handbrakes, but fingers crossed they don't go wrong! 8. Agree, especially as the screen in the UK is the wrong way round with the 'Home' button as far away from the driver as they could put it! Overall I think the car is more solid, feels far more premium and absorbs the round noise and bumps far better than the Mk3, but as ever its just a personal opinion.

Adaptive Cruise Control bug
Although I wont be holding my breath, I will be very happy if it does come to be true!! Please keep us posted!! Is there light at the end of the tunnel???

Adaptive Cruise Control bug
How easy is it? I want Skoda to fix the issue, but if it can be done easily and they are not fixing it I may well look at that option.... I know of people who had tried and failed, wasn't aware of any success in turning it off...

DSG gearbox emergency mode
I guess its just another 'feature' of the Octavia Mk4!

Adaptive Cruise Control bug
That does seem crazy, mine isn't that long, I reckon a minute or so. Having said that nothing surprises me anymore.

Adaptive Cruise Control bug
I must admit my start up is not bad at all, I can live with it, but the other bugs are painful. I totally understand your point, and having VAG cars for the best part of 20 years, likewise, this is probably the last, but..... as you say what next.... Skoda have hit a lovely balance of cost/usability, until now!

Adaptive Cruise Control bug
Awesome! That should hopefully help give Skoda a kick up the backside... I struggle to see how the car media haven't picked up on the awful software of the car, praising its ability all the time without ever checking what the car is really like to live with!

Rusty Brake Discs
As others have said, its absolutely normal, just drive the car that will sort them out.

Adaptive Cruise Control bug
I am not sure you can in the Octy 4, I coded it out on my Golf R 7.5 but I cant do it on the newer software they have used. Its crazy that you can not just turn it 'off' in the software, but as ever they are taking control away from the driver, instead you have to tap the accelerator every time a car is picked up, great in a perfectly working car, but the Octy Mk4 is far from a 'perfectly working' car!

Adaptive Cruise Control bug
I too have the same issue, as you say they know about it and all I got was... we recommend you don't use the ACC!?! My Travel Assist doesn't work either so its a complete disgrace, and as you say is dangerous because people around you think you are brake testing them. Sadly Skoda don't seem to care at all.

No response to acceleration pedal
Same its good to joke 👍. As an aside I know the lab well, but as you say stranger things do happen and cars are affected in strange ways, its funny my radio signal gets lost in a number of locations and as you highlight it must be the interference from masts/sites, as it happens every time I drive past them!

SOS emergency and Airbag error (and many more)
Why can't they switch one from one of their showroom cars or second hand cars? At least it would test and prove it one way or the other.... I have had the Airbag warning (caused during wiring car-phone kit where they disconnected the passenger Airbag connector for safety) mine did not trigger any other error codes and was easily cleared by VCDS. Having said all of that absolutely nothing surprises me anymore with Mk4 software problems, I am amazed the car actually runs!! 😬

Software
That's what they told me last month, but other rumours (including my dealer) were saying they were hopping for a fix end of Q1, you never know... miracles may well happen!! Not holding my breath though.....
-
No response to acceleration pedal
I do know there isn't.... none that affect aircraft or cars, put it that way.

Brake juddering
Should not be brake pads at 9500miles! Does it happen every time? Only above a certain speed? If its been left for a long time, it could be debris/rust got stuck in the pads but that should clear and be fine afterwards.. If its severe, it could be a warped disk, but they would have to have got really hot for that to happen!

Software
Sorry, forgot to ask, which dealer are you taking your car to for the update, I use the Fareham Skoda Dealer and they are hit and miss, sorted the SOS really well, but not really knowledgeable about the ACC and how it is meant to work, I had to get the Group CEO and Skoda UK involved to accept that I actually had an issue!
