  1. Carista or ODB11 bother let you change this function.
  2. I've ran 18"x 8J ET38 on the fabia on 215/25/18 without issues, Also ran 17"x8j ET30 with no issues & lowered 40mm I'm now running 17"x7j alloys, 18's looked great but not practical.
  3. Yep will fit perefect, No issue's there.
  4. Leave it as is if its your old dears car, If it was yours I'd strongly advise a RTMG ecu & tcu remap.
  5. Timing chains on the TSI's don't have a specific lifespan or interval change. The car will soon let you know if it needs done either by an unignorably loud tapping from the engine or various error codes. The waterpump on the other hand I have no idea on this variant on engine.
  6. Easy option is to simply keep your old lights, Put them back and on for MOT day, Job done. Your other option is to split the lights like others have done in the past and swap the components.
  7. Send me a message mate, I should be able to source you the adapter cheaper.
  8. Hows the engine handle the heat and humidity there? Hotter parts of the world such as Asia and Australia the mechatronic rally suffered with the high humidity in early CAVE builds. Looking good.
  9. Car will still run if the water pump\magnetic clutch goes as the car goes into limp mode and cuts all boost, Shouldn't ever cut out, Just warning lights. Your revs drop to zero then fire back up as normal? No power issues or kangarooing when driving as I would immediately think it was fuel related as HPFP are common to go on these. Any vacuum related issues should in theory throw up a code pretty quickly but never rule that out. Do you have an ob2 adapter and any live software that would let you watch air/fuelling etc? How many many miles has it done out of interest as a failing/stretched timing chain could cause those symptoms.
  10. As Thomas said, It could be the water pump/supercharger engaging, I tend to hear this in cold weather before the cars heated up then disappears. have you noticed it disappears after driving a while? I posted a similar post about 3 years on here as it i could clearly hear it with driver window down ad particular in first gear when setting off. Possible to record the sound?
  11. Owned mine over 3 years and it snow hit 52k, I've been fortunate that the previous owner was supplied with anew engine at 14k and in my possession the car doesn't burn any oil, I service mine once a year and once a year only and that would consists of oil, plugs, oil filter and fuel filter and touch wood I've had very little issues with my estate/combi version. I've only ever used MANN filters and laterally move to NGK BKR7EIX plugs, My best advice would be to stick similar plugs as you may have read these can be a bit of lottery with plugs. I've ran a catch can for a little over a year now and whilst it does its job and catches oil, that's hasn't reflected in massive oil loss o particularly any loss as weird as it seems. You'll never find an easier car to service in your life! The revised oil jets are fairly cheap to source and buy yourself however its a bit of a nasty job changing them without the right tools and doesn't always guarantee the fix as the damage may have been done ie ruined piston rings. Happy driving.
  12. My best advice would be to head over to Mk2 Fabia Vrs facebook page if your on Facebook and want advice, This place is for people would argue about the colour of an orange. Shame really as I'd imagine other parts of this forum are useful.
  13. Nah no need to worry on Tsi's, Would be a very rare case if a timing chain snapped however stretching is as common as muck. I would be me more worried that nobody noticed the audible difference from the noise of the engine if the chain was stretched as particularly on these they tend to make a hell of a racket, the car runs like crap and in theory it should start to throw up P0016 codes Replace the tensioner at the same time as these engines still use an old tensioner that has been revised 3 times by VW since ours, Its prone to chucking it and having done the timing chain on these I can vouch for an £80 timing kits from TPS, Ive done the lot for just over £100 and it 3 took hours in total. £80 for timing kit £22 for timing tools And obviously make sure they check over the other components for damage ie sprockets
  14. What year an mileage? I may be interested in taking it off your hands if you go that route. As mentioned above a proper compression test should determine whether a borescope is required, Was it burning oil before it broke on you? That would be the first sign that is the piston rings failing or possibility of scoring on the cylinders. As Thomas mentioned the wiring to the coils and ignition connectors must be checked as the wiring is notorious on these for disintegrating, For the warning lights to disappear would indicate that its and intermittent electrical fault of some sort. I'd quickly run the engine and put pressure on each on the connections to the coils and the coils themselves to see if there's any difference in how the engine behaves and get and get that wiring checked asap.
  15. I ran denso for almost a year at a gap of 0.4mm as the plugs implied on the box the gap should not be adjusted and they did run fine for probably 8 months or so then the misfires started back so moved to NGK BKR7(2667) and haven’t really looked back, no misfires, no rough idle and most likely by pure luck Ive never had an coil issues. Went stage 2 in December 2019 and was recommended by RTMG that I gap the NGK’s to 0.8mm as I was running more power so I immediately done so and all was good, never had any issues whatsoever apart from clutch slip in 2nd gear when red lined in “s mode”, that is solved by changing gear a bit earlier and rarely cause me issues. I had a friend running stage 2 by Ecotune on his forged 1.4 tfsi running 280 bhp, early teething problems seen him returning back to Ecotune to get the map adjusted a couple of time but they did sort eventually, credit to them. Again I can only go on my experience with plugs on these cars and from what knowledge I’ve learned online from other users and I wouldn’t discredit Denso however personally it would be NGK for me as I’m running R8 coils with the BKR7’s these days without a hitch, I never gapped these new plugs as left them at 0.6mm with the new coils and they have been absolutely fine.
  16. Welcome, Hola! What a lucky man to be from Chile, such a beautiful country. Car looks and some nice mods planned. Keep up updated as I'd love to see what the car scene in chile is like!
  17. "Tools" socket set/spark plug socket/21mm ring spanner to remove top mount spring compressors and obviously a jack. Fairly straight forward process and plenty of video's tutorials online if needed and you do need to take any wheel hubs off, Simply use 2nd jack to raise and lower the drive shaft to squeeze the shock and spring past & pick up some top mounts, no point in going to that effort stripping it down and not replacing the top mounts for a few quid each.
  18. Hard to see due to pic resolution but you'll notice the gap behind the badge.
  19. Yeah mate as said above, seen Andrew’s and helped another boy remove his grill to fit one. Can’t mind if the post was on here or on Facebook group with pics of the gap as a user thought they had fitted it wrong. Looks the part it’s just not for me and I’m sure Andrew could post up some pics.
  20. Note to add.....The milotec grill is a horrible fitment and leaves you with a gap behind the badge.
  21. Head bolts - (outside to inside) Initial 30Nm all bolts then +90 deg then +90 deg then +90 deg Conrod Bolts - 30nm + 90 deg Unsure about rocker cover, WIll check when I'm home.
  22. Many other have had the same thoughts mate but yeah they are intentionally fake as we have DRL'S
  23. Stage 2 Ecu, Stage 1 DSG remap - exhaust, Forge filter, Forge bov, RTMG intercooler and battery relocation to get to stage 2,oil catch can, lowered 40mm on H&R's, whiteline anti roll bar and the rest is all exterior stuff I think. I've been really reluctant to do any work on it as I've recently purchased a camper van and sank all my time into that. Hopefully get working on the Fab over the winter and get some of the stuff added that I have lying about.
