  1. I was in a similar situation, hoping to get away with not having the service done before handing it back - I DID get it done (£219) but was told that if I hadn't, I would have received a bill for it anyway ! Can't complain, just one service (combined oil service & inspection) in almost 2 years is good value IMO.
  2. My current car is an Octavia in Quartz Grey with beige Alcantara interior - liked it initially, but in some instances the quartz grey looks drab & uninteresting IMO. Have ordered a Karoq Edition in Candy White with the beige leather interior - I wanted the colour black but on seeing it in the metal was disappointed with the metallic effect in bright sunlight which made it look a pale shade of black. I wanted a deep ,rich black colour, like the Superb's. I know any colour on the Edition, apart from Velvet Red, is cost free, but Candy White is now my preferred choice - my previous Octy was in Candy White with beige Alcantara & I loved it ! At the end of the day, colour choice is subjective so it's each to their own, but I urge anyone contemplating a choice to see it "in the metal" - photos & on line pics can be very misleading.
  3. I started this thread last November when the problem first arose. I noticed it occasionally reappeared if the car "sat" for a couple of days, but always fixed itself after a restart. For the past 2 months it has behaved perfectly, even after not moving for a day or two. The car had its 1st service this week & I mentioned the problem - on collecting the car afterwards I completely forgot to ask if anything was found, although as I've said, all is in rude health now and long may it continue so !
  4. It's a newer version with the latest updates, only available around here LOL !!
  5. Update ! On having a decent road test in both a Superb & Koraq, I (we !) came down in favour of the Koraq, for many & varied reasons. I enquired about Preferential Termination with my dealership, having first got an Early Termination figure on my existing PCH deal with Skoda Finance. They all assured me that there is absolutely no adverse affects on my credit rating whichever course of action I select. With 18 months left on the current agreement, 65% of the remaining balance equalled £2848, the amount I'd need to pay in order to exit on Early Termination (something I have done previously). By striking up a good relationship with my excellent (NOT LOCAL) dealership, they've agreed to buy my car on the Preferential Termination scheme, clearing the finance bill of £2848 for me providing I cough up £800 in total towards it. On top of that, they've given me £230 towards my new order (Koraq Edition) on a new PCH (a 3/35 deal). I personally believe it's a great offer, even paying the initial 3 months Lease Rental deposit plus the £800, I'm over £1000 better AND off with a new car on order. Obviously the dealers are letting me keep my Octy until I collect the Koraq which will be delivered from Grimsby Docks sometime in June, so I'm pleased to say, it looks like Happy Days ! My thanks for users on this Forum for the information regarding Preferential Terminations - I'd never heard of it before & am grateful for the knowledge gained - no doubt some will say "you should have held out for a better deal" etc, but I'm not greedy and wanted things sorting quickly. I'm happy, the dealership is happy, so what's not to like ?
  6. I too have noticed my key fob battery hasn't lasted as long - my previous Octy3 I had for 3 years & the battery never needed replacing - my current car, another Octy3 (both non KESSY) is not yet 18 months old yet the key fob battery needed changing 2 weeks ago. Fortunately the manual is quite clear on the change procedure, including the re-formatting if the replacement doesn't work 1st time ! I had a "cheapo" battery at hand, (cost about £1 for four !) and that worked just fine - might not last forever though !
  7. Thanks for such prompt & informative replies - I really didn't think PCH deals could possibly be terminated without huge penalties. My problem ? I'm 18 months into my lease, owe about £4,500 in future payments, and although my car is in excellent condition (12k mileage), I did terminate my PCP deal on my other Octy early in order to get the current one. They may not view me as an ideal customer, however, I've certainly been given food for (serious) thought (have my eye on a Superb !).
  8. I take it the same process wouldn't be allowed with a Lease (PCH) agreement with Skoda Finance ?
  9. I too have used Black Circles, choosing my local garage to fit the tyres. From my personal experience I would strongly recommend them.
  10. In answer to the original question, I'm on my second Octavia 3 equipped with the 7 speed gearbox, the first run for 3 years, the 2nd for 18 months. During that time neither car (or gearbox !) missed a beat, have never required any attention, and have run exactly as intended. I have not done the mileage you intend A900SS, but approaching circa 50k now in total, I have total faith in the 7 speed DSG. JKW
  11. On my 2nd Octy 3 with Amundsen sat nav fitted - apart from showing the speed limit I have found it useless in both cars and always use my Tom Tom device. The Amundsen was included as part of the Elegance/ SE L trim - I would never have bought it separately, Tom Tom is not only cheaper but far easier to use IMO. JKW
  12. I had the same problem ( earlier posts on here) & received some advice although my own self diagnosis seems to be more useful ! In my case, the car had been standing in a car compound whilst I went on holiday, and the same orange exclamation CC icon you described appeared when driving home a week later. Next day was fine once again, ie no icon and cruise control returned as normal. It did happen again a day or so later, but a switch off / restart sorted it out. Since then, and now over two weeks & 360 miles of varied journeys later, all is as it should be - I believe my problem was caused by damp ( standing in a compound during a damp, murky week), because now I'm a happy teddy again ! Good luck in solving your problem. JKW
  13. No ACC, just normal cruise control , which is working just fine now ta - must have been "damp gremlins" causing the problem !!
  14. All seems to be fine now - despite the various solutions offered ( some more useful than others !) I still think my initial suspicion that damp from sitting in an exposed car compound for a week being the cause was correct, but if the problem arises a dealer visit will be made.
  15. I've searched the Forum but cannot find any info ; returned to my car having been away for a week - on moving off I noticed the cruise warning light on the maxidot was orange with an exclamation mark alongside. Obviously a warning, not life threatening, but the cruise naturally didn't work. The next morning, all was good & working correctly, so I'm thinking maybe some damp had caused the temporary malfunction. However, later in the day it all occurred again - switching off & restarting solved it, and since then (3 days & 200 miles) it has worked perfectly. Any ideas as to the problem I encountered ? JKW
  16. I'm on my 2nd Octy 3 with DSG, both cars 1.6tdi. The 1st I had for 3 years & 30,000 miles, the current car for 13 months & having completed just over 10k miles. During this time each gearbox has been faultless , never giving a seconds problem, and I have no hesitation in recommending the 7 speed DSG 'box.
  17. If it's any consolation Igdos, ( & I know it won't be !) my Honda Civic Sport suffered a CVT gearbox failure just 3 months out of warranty - quoted cost to repair £10,000 (yes TEN thousand pounds). Honda offered £6500 as a goodwill gesture, & having no option other than to pay the rest ( otherwise no car) I gave the go ahead to effect the repair. On collection I drove direct to a Skoda dealership and ordered an Octy 3 on a PCP, but also harangued every man & his dog belonging to Honda, including the European HQ, with my feelings on such a fault ( swarf in the unit apparently) occurring shortly after it had been serviced, including gearbox oil renewal. After many, many emails, & phone calls, including constant rejections I eventually got them to admit that the failure was not my fault, and consequently I received a cheque for all the money I'd had to pay - RESULT !! Previously I'd tried the Ombudsman, Honest John, Watchdog at AutoExpress, even Citizens Advice etc, none of which were any help whatsoever, but by pestering the upper echelons at Honda HQ (t'internet was wonderful for giving me information on who / where to contact them) I eventually got them to increase the goodwill payment - I personally would go down that route, accepting , as I did, that the dealership wouldn't / couldn't increase their offer, but the "big boys" could ! You've a greater chance of success if your car has been fully serviced solely by Skoda dealerships. I feel your pain regarding your 'box, but don't give up, persevere with your claim for an increased financial gesture -I wish you success. JKW
  18. I remember the same question being raised a few years ago, when someone actually thought of peeling them off - fortunately he was persuaded from doing so just in time ! JKW
  19. Brilliant for you, great choice of car too ! You might as well do the Lotto as well this week !
  20. Sounds good to me although others on here might disagree !
  21. Many thanks for the ( mostly !)) positive input, some excellent viewpoints and all helpful one way or another. DCC us an option I'd not considered but with me now lusting after not only the Superb, but the Phoenix wheels ( all 19" of 'em !) as well, I'll need to save up even more now ! Thanks again for all the replies, Happy motoring to all. JKW
  22. As per the title, I absolutely lust after a Superb SE L Executive hatch, and hope when my current lease deal on my Octavia is up, to get one, in black with beige interior. However, although I really want the 19" Pheonix wheels I wonder if they affect the ride comfort too much - they look the business in my eyes, but I don't want to sacrifice comfort for vanity ! I'd appreciate thoughts, especially from anyone with personal experience. JKW
  23. Thanks for the replies guys - I'm probably not far enough into my current agreement to make a settlement figure viable, but the "Preferential Termination" is a possibility - watch this space ! JKW
  24. A hypothetical question ; if I wanted to swap my existing PCH ( lease) deal early for another PCH deal ( same Skoda finance company) would I need to clear the remaining payments or would / could they be cleared by signing a new agreement ? For example, current Octavia part way through its PCH deal but now fancy a Superb on a new PCH, extending the lease period - any chance, without breaking the bank !? JKW
  25. The scrote should be feeling the pain !! JKW
