I'm with the above opinions of get it done only if it needs doing. The wife's Octavia is 9 years old with 55k on the clock and has never been re-gassed, my Superb is 3 1/2 years old with 130k on it and also never been re-gassed, and on both cars the aircon is working great as has been shown in the recent heatwave temperatures of this past week.

If you check the MOT history the very first MOT shows the car failed as both front tyres were worn right through to the ply/cords which in my mind is not a sign of a well looked after and cared for car, think carefully before deciding what is best for you, personally I would reject it and look for another well looked after car, there are plenty out there, take your time and the right car will turn up for you.

You may well be correct, there have been slight differences in the wording, and for the last two days I have had no notifications, so perhaps I am at last up to date. I haven't noticed anything different on the main screen, but perhaps it's a functional difference, and not obviously noticeable to the end user. I'll keep a look out for further notifications.

I had a similar thing with mine where sometimes it would work and sometimes not. Took it to the dealer who found the radar had become dislodged from the bracket, it was pushed back in and all worked well again (not sure if the dealer re-calibrated it or not). The plastic bracket the radar unit mounts into has been known to snap requiring a new bracket, and also dirt can build up behind the front cover and the radar unit itself giving a warning message. After trying to update several times without success sometimes the installation 'wheel' gets stuck at about 75%, but other times it has reached 100% and said installation successful but as we know it isn't! You would think Skoda would have tested the OTA updates before releasing them but obviously not on this occasion.

I've got the same on mine, comes up every trip at the moment, never installs correctly. I don't think a dealer will be able to help, probably have to wait for the main Skoda database to correct the problem. It says it's a UI update so nothing important.

I'm not going to say it's common, but certainly not unheard of. The odd & even gears are controlled by different clutches, and sometimes the mechatronics unit (controlling brain of the gearbox) can fail requiring replacement. I would go to the Skoda dealer who fixed it the first time, Skoda give a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty on all work carried out, and in this case, assuming it is the same problem and you are withing the time/mileage limitations, they should fix it again.

Probably no damage at all and it will be fine, you can get failures on low mileage cars if they are a few years old, it's quite random. And remember you only hear about the failures and not those that have run for 200k+ miles which will be many many cars. Get the oil changed and don't worry.

As you were in Spain there was a good chance Seat would be available, and the Arona is assembled in Martorell. What have I won............................
