For Info I have a leaking water pump (Skoda superb III 1.4TSi Engine code CZEA) Sept 2017 54,000 miles. having traced the small water leak to the water pump housing, (was a pig to find the coolant lurking under it), and looked it up in the workshop manual, I can confirm its a complex and separate water pump at the opposite (transmission) end of the engine and an expensive part (£206 from Skoda). Will change it and its drive belt. There is a Youtube video showing this change but note getting the air locks out of the system looks from the workshop manual to be a bit of a chore! While I was at it i inspected the Cam Belt which is easy to inspect, one bolt and two spring clips unclip some pipes from the cover and manoeuvre it out. The belt look like new after 6 and a bit years and 54,000 miles. The workshop manual just states its condition should be inspected at every major service. I have been doing this since I now do these, and so i check it annually as its a simple check. the manual does not quote a mileage limit but 160,000 miles seems believable as the stress of driving the water belt it eliminated and so its a less convoluted path with less turns and stress / load. Hi first suggestion would be take it back to Skoda dealer and point out that you have statutory rights and they apply to cars too. under the consumer rights act goods have to be of merchantable quality and last as long as a reasonable person would expect them to last having regard to their price and nature. This applies to parts of cars not just the whole. goven what satnav media units cost (to replace a reasonable person would expect them to last the full 6 years of these rights. therefore Skoda can’t blank you on this. if the dealer refuses ask them to refer it to Skoda UK who should know your rights. If bot get trading standards involved. technically under the act you might get charged a portion of the repair costs based on you having had the use of the part for say three years (based on it being a 2018 car) but surprisingly most companies don’t know the act well enough to realise this and replace for free when pushed! good luck whatever you try!

My previous mark II (Black paint) had a beige leather. Wouldn’t have it again. After 10 yrs and 180,000 miles was quite grubby despite cleaning and conditioning. 67 MK iii is black metallic with black leather. Much prefer it. due to work I often have to climb in dusty and dirty, black leather is the best option for me xxx

first thing I would look at is see if there are any fault codes generated in the nav unit using VCDS etc. don't know where Your based and Covid 19 distancing may make it awkward but there is a list somewhere on this site listing people with VCDS (inc me) most of whom would be happy to read faults for you. (I am in Lincolnshire near Sleaford). if not look up retrofitting as there is a Guru who can do lots of coding etc on the latest units who posts on there who is very helpful and should know wether a software reset or reload is likely to work. finally if it’s just happened and there is no reason for it consider your consumer rights. despite being out of dealer/ manufacturer warranty cars are subject to the usual consumer protection and that includes components. they should last as long as a reasonable person would expect them to. Up to a max of six years. So no chance on worN out brake pads but expensive electronic units would reasonably expected to last 6 years and manufacturers still have some liability for out of warranty units (don’t take a no from the dealer, insist on contact with manufacturers customer services and don’t take no for an answer. good luck ian

Beats the grey “Free” colour in my book. The grey isn’t awful but I think the Blue is nicer. Shame manufacturers don’t do red non metallic as a free option as I think Bright Red is the best looking non metallic of them all. Might be as red paint unusually is translucent (painted over light primer so your seeing the light reflected from the primer coloured by the top coat.

Hi I have the latest firmware in my 2017 superb SEL (Updated 2 months ago due to a problem playing music from SD) and can confirm that my iPhone X works fine via Bluetooth and CarPlay though I normally use CarPlay I have occasionally forgotten to connect it and received calls OK. i will try it tomorrow via Bluetooth as I recently went to IOS 13 now Apple have finally sorted out the bugs and let you know if it’s problematic. Love the badge change. like the choice of black instead of chrome on the white background. matches the white car and the de chromed front grille on the sport line. Works just as well as the standard badge does with chrome on my metallic black SEL as the front grille is black with chrome to match and always thought the Standard badge looks particularly good on a black car. changed the old green badges for the newer black chrome on my old Superb Elegance as they looked so much better. Really nice look on your Sportline.

Driving a skoda doesn’t make you a failure.... it just makes you savvy. the superb has won loads of awards. It’s a good choice if you want a very well specked car at a better price.

Lol fair enough the maths was more about the weight of fuel. My sparring partner is right of course the volumetric conversion for Errol is loser to 0.8 not the specific gravity which isn’t the figure for converting volume to weight 😁 but still a long way off 1l being 1 kilo 😊

Tank is 66 litres Not the 60 I thought You can squeeze a bit more in I know but if you run with nothing in your going to run out so realistically 66 is a max difference between brim full and empty enough you need to find a garage urgently but i would tend to run a min of 60 litres Below full. I don’t know what heavy fuel you’re using (yes diesels a bit heavier but still around 0.8) petrol or has a specific gravity of 0.739 so weight 0.739 kg per litre. Realistic 60 litres from full the the least I want to run around with. i will stick with my maths just over 44.3 kilos. Or as I said just over 40kg. 😁😁😁 1.4 tsi and taking it easy out of town regularly get 50mpg lazy long run a Week or so back (supporting a vulnerable relative by going and fetching his drugs from a pharmacy) I averaged 56 mpg 😁

Keeping it brimmed is throwing fuel away lugging round a full tank weighing about 40+ kg of fuel. dont need to risk it empty but topping up more than actually necessary is burning money. Also bad for the environment as you burning more fuel than necessary.

depends if your car has personalisation then each key can be tied to a profile which you can rename in the menus on the infotainment system settings. have a look at personalisation in the manual or see the extracts below. these are from the My Skoda app which is great when you want the manual to hand 😁

My last superb Mk2 had the same in switched sockets. bought a piggyback fuse holder with wires and spades on it and required the output pin for the fuse to these to be fed from a spare switched live in the fuse board instead. already had a dash an hardwired in the front but about to install a nextbase in the rear window so may do the same again on my MK3. if I do will post pics and list fuse numbers to do this. mots not a big job.

Ah That would explain it. Mind you I was reading on the forums someone who moved to a Superb 3 288hp as his Golf R had been nicked off the drive having broken into his house to get the keys so he wanted less of a theft magnet. was well pleased by the Superb !

if they were 235/45/18 s I would be interested but looks like the sport line alloys from your pics so I guess they are the 40/19 s why are you after a different size? Are you changing alloys?

PS the duplication wasn’t fixed by the update but I found an album with a couple of curry or tracks which is what triggered the fault so it’s not doing it now. potentially you could use my sd data with the duff album to create this problem and get the dealer to install the software update under warranty. the dealer told me they only update firmware where there is a fault that might be fixed by a firmware update as there is a small risk of bricking the unit.

You may be able to download it you certainly could and burn it to DVD to update the superb Mk2. not sure on the MK3 but mine is a model year 17 (67 plate) and the dealer updated the firmware 1 week ago due to an issue with duplicating media on the sd card randomly. SW showing as ver 1433 Hardware is Amundsen H50 Nav DB V03959803TF0177 ECE 2019/2020 Bluetooth ver 10.446.286 App-Connect ver CLU6_SK11ER_147 Radio database ver 1.8.3 hope this helps. cheers

Have to agree on the nav. have factory nav but don’t use it. Google maps and voice rec much better than factory nav. use Apple car play and google maps. plugged in so messages and WhatsApp can all be done with voice at the same time as well as make calls etc. the 8” screen is nice and clear however. good luck whatever you decide.

Does the bolero come with android auto / Apple carplay? if not I would strongly recommend the amundsen. this slows you to use much better nav (better voice or web search for businesses) and allows you to get most messages using voice only to read them out and reply. means less temptation to get dangerously distracted when driving and that’s well worth having.

Two reasons for a pair of lights (any lights not just fogs). 1 to illuminate a wider area 2 so if one bulb blows you still have light and can be see and be seen) 1 doesn't apply to Fogs as your not using them to illuminate an area but 2 still applies, redundancy is always good so a blown bulb (or LED) doesn't leave you being hit in fog. Only reason for a single fog is cost saving or on cars that use the same space on the other side for a reversing light. Why you would ever have two lights and only use one in Coding ???? No cost saved just bizarre.

Same here Sept 2017 SEL 1.4 DSG copied large amount of music onto SD card and after a while it seemed to be more and more folders (albums) start doing this showing two copies of every track in the album. Have wiped the card and re copied having checked the source folders were fine ( a couple did have two copies but have edited the duplicate files out from the source music folder on my PC and soon had the same problem with the new copy. Last night I checked on the PC some albums(folders) that were doing this on the Columbus and they have single copies of the files both on SD and on my PC. Have stuck another SD card in, formatted it and copied the music again and will see if this does the same. If it does I will do a smaller subset and make sure the folders containing albums are all off the top level and not in sub folders under artist name for example and try again. If all of that fails then Skoda will get it back under warranty to sort out. Its due in on Thursday to sort out a flaking DSG gear stick anyway. Will update if anything works. Good Luck.

Hi MiniEggs. had two different 5 series one the current style known internally as the F10 and the previous Chris Bangle Design E60 both 2.0l turbo diesel SE spec. both nice cars to drive and well thought out and put together. it was the E60 that had the difficult windscreen wiper fault. i would rate both my CR170 diesel superb MK2 Elegance and current Superb Mk3 SEL Exec above the BMW overall. more space more reliable (did over 100,000 miles in the MK2 Superb taking it to 182,000) much much cheaper to run for servicing repairs etc. BMW’s were nice places to be but sparse on kit, overpriced and excruciatingly expensive for things like brake pads and disks from dealers as well as being made of cheese, they work fine but wear out in the blink of an eye. Front pads every mid 20,000 miles or so and new disks for every other set of pads. Backs last slightly longer pads and disks together around £450 and that’s a few years back. overall Skoda Superb is better in most areas the big ones being kit and value for money.
