Do shop around. You can often find the same warranty elsewhere for less. Deprive the dealer of a wad of commission, because they get a nice incentive commission from selling it. It could be interesting whether the car industry could be taken to court for misselling them, along the lines of PPI. Anyone with a legal training maybe able to check on this.

Be careful with what you leave on your phone. I forgot to remove all traces of a visit to an "Adult Entertainment Shop" you know the sort that sells toys for after 9pm, which is a good distance from where I live and the first thing it did was when I reestablished the link was offer me directions to it in front of a mate. 😳 One of the few times that it has worked perfectly and I wish that it hadn't.

The heated seats, windscreen wipers, heated screens, seat belts, air conditioning and lighting... Well manual lighting. If it's automatic headlights, nah.

I had issues with an S8+ which was plugged into the USB port of the car to allow it to connect up with Google Maps (which kept trying to make me do routes I didn't want to) and the whole thing went blank! Do I dare trust it with a new S20+? I don't think so. I most certainly won't be parting with anymore cash for this car, other than what is absolutely necessary. Contemptible piece of 💩.

I know BMW are right wee wee takers, they charge for every little thing that they can. Doesn't stop me looking at a Series 1 to replace my junk heap.

Just bear in mind that you need a decent data allowance and phone tariff, plus more often than not a 4G phone signal to take full benefit of Google Maps or Waze. Also the infotainment system can be picky about your mobile phone, it doesn't like my Samsung S20+ very much, it thinks about letting it connect and transferring the contacts et al, when it does eventually allow it, it's OK. Skoda needs to sort out their firmware and software updates for the infotainment system TBQH and stop charging for things like Smartlink. Good luck with it if you have a new or recent Android/Apple device.

Different car, different colours, different typefaces etc. I used OBD11 to change my dash from 20mph increments to display in 10mph increments. I've tried changing other things like typefaces and got just one, which is a very simple style rather than the heavier and racier RS typeface. Background colour is via the infotainment system, if you want to use VCDS or OBD11 to dig further be my guest, but I don't think that you're going to find anything much more than two typefaces and the colours that you can find in infotainment.

I've got their courtesy car, but I've only got limited amount of floating leave and I don't see why I should have to use that to cover the time that the car is in dock for. I have to go back to work next week for 3 days, all of which are irritating 1400 starts, so I may be able to pick it up around 1200-1300 Monday or Tuesday, Wednesday is a bit easier with a 1620 start, but I still find this to be a ridiculous situation to be in, with a car that's 16/17 months old.

Gateway over voltage or voltage high is one fault that I have had for ages and is caused (apparently) by a charger in the accessory socket. I had the same issue as you on a journey from Kidderminster, back to Surrey and it took a reboot and turning the car off for a few minutes to get it to come back on. It has done it twice more since, I have complained about it, the dealer has run numerous tests and they can't get it to repeat it, so I'll have to live with it. TBQH, I am starting to question the abilities of Skoda technical as they seem to be as lost as the dealer and I seem to get better help and advice on here than I get from the Skoda dealership.

Just been in contact with the garage and it's waiting for connection and calibration of the camera, the only place they can calibrate it is the MOT bay, which is fully booked until Friday, once there, it'll take 5hrs to complete it and fully test it. And fully check all of the other systems. TBQH this is taking the pee. I'm wondering if I could be entitled to get some compensation for all of the time off that I have had to take off and loss of earnings (~£900). Now not expected to get the car back until Monday or later next week.

Forewarned is forearmed. Knowing your legal rights beforehand is a good thing, as you can then challenge the dealer should they try and wriggle out of their responsibilities. It catches them out if you can start quoting your legal rights.

Yes. It's done via the infotainment system. It's in Car - Settings - Background Lighting. NB. You can only change the background colour, you CANNOT change the colour of the font (it will be white). You can only change the font of the VC if you have either VCDS or OBD11.

Thanks. Somehow I think that trying to dispose of this car maybe like trying to climb a greased fireman's pole. I may well be wrong. I should have heard back from them yesterday. I put the suggestion to them that the root cause of the problem may well be CU19 the CANBUS gateway, after I mentioned it had been discussed with someone who deals with VW electronics 😉. I'm starting to wonder if they've found something far more serious than first appeared, like I said they cannot get the car to accept a brand new camera and without it, the car's undriveable. Why does it keep slamming the emergency brake in? Why does the lock on the driver's door fail intermittently? So on and so forth. I mean, when the car behaves itself it's superb, a lovely drive.

Hi. Does anyone know if there's any firmware update that would improve the connectivity with a Samsung Galaxy S20+ or stop the infotainment system from going blank/freezing. MY 19 Octavia RS - Hatch.
