  1. I wouldnt have thought so. Creaking can happen on any suspension. Might be a time to crack out the wd40 and spray all the joints to locate where it is creaking from.
  2. Remap Kings who now own Superchips have a good following and reputation. They are also doing £100 off maps until the end of November.
  3. I have a diesel and do 6 miles to work each day and do have long commutes etc. Never had any issue with the DPF as the mk3 manage it better than older models. As you are looking at 3 years old then the timing belt and water pump won't need doing. However the pumps have been known to fail as there is a sticky on this forum you should read. If you go DSG make sure it has been serviced at 40,000 miles. I enjoy mine and sometimes wish I had gone with the petrol 245. But then I dont when I get 600 miles + to a tank on very long commutes. The FL diesel have the smaller 312mm brakes where as the PFL came with 340mm brakes. Either way they will stop as my mk2 VRS had std 312mm brakes and coped just fine with 280bhp! Personally I would look for one with the winter pack, (heated front screen and seats) Canton Sound System, park pilot and Cruise control. Some come with ACC but I have had it on older cars and never used it. You can activate features such as auto high beam,m and other features via VCDS or OBDELEVEN. I have the latter and it is worth its weight in gold.
  4. I change mine every 10,000 miles.
  5. Volk Service charged me £170 using genuine oil and can update the online service record. Cant see the point in using main stealers anymore as they simply charge too much.
  6. New screens can be hundreds of pounds. Ideally if you had a chip in the windscreen then you can get a new screen fitted. That way you can get a new one fitted on your insurance. Had this happen to me on the motorway twice within 2 months.
  7. I had it done at a garage called VolkService in Blackpool. Excellent service and very professional.
  8. I had mine changed at an Indy who uses genuine parts and cost me £385 for timing belt and water pump.
  9. However it is artificial noise rather than natural. Diesels are very one noted by design. The link below compares normal then how it sounds with the Kufatec on different modes. https://youtu.be/UHE76UXMEuo
  10. You will never get a diesel to sound particularly good. The only diesel i have owned that sounded anywhere near decent was my Fabia mk1 VRS with a full milltek turbo back with sports cat exhaust. That sounded very deep when cruising but nice on acceleration. Sadly most diesel cars I have heard with resonators removed sound like tractors or lorries. No way around it but diesels always will sound agricultural as opposed to sporty.
  11. Had one fitted on my mk2 TFSi VRS and although it caught the majority of oil vapour. People were still finding that the valves were gumming up, albeit at a slower rate. Mine also ran slightly rough with it fitted and it was fitted correctly aswell. If keeping for 12 years you would probably do better by saving money each month and whenever the issue arrises, getting the head removed and cleaned again.
  12. I never could understand why Skoda fitted those fake exhaust trim pieces. I preferred mk2 exhaust style that you could see with a singe outlet and twin pipes. Loved my BCS exhaust. Hopefully you will get it sorted 👍
  13. Not sure if it would work but you could always fit downward facing tips to direct the heat downwards to the floor. Pretty much like some rally cars did to avoid melting the bumper with anti lag.
  14. Never really bothered me that. Given the exhaust is hidden behind the bumper and not immediately obvious like a Golf GTi etc with overt tailpipes. Guess I am just boring 🤣However they are very expensive to buy aftermarket which I cannot see why, as it is a simple 1 into 2 connection with a bend with 2 silencers 🤔 Not exactly hard to make with the right equipment.
  15. Is your car on hp or pcp? If it is and you plan on handing the car back I would keep it and refit it before handing back. Also make sure you have the finance companies permission to modify if it is on finance. Else they can breach you and charge you for the loss in value and reclaim the car. If you plan on part ex-ing your car then you would probably get a couple of hundred pounds for the full system. There isn't really a market for standard used exhausts.
  16. Wow. I get about 500 miles on average till the refill light comes on and still have about 40ish miles left to a tank, but then mine is diesel.
  17. Never seen the point in removing a wiper from the rear
  18. I get roughly between 45mpgs and upto 60mpgs on a long run in my 184 VRS DSG Diesel. Road tax is cheap too. I know some owners get 40mpg plus in their petrols. I would go for a drive in a diesel VRS and see which you prefer.
  19. Have you tested the EGR valve as there is a test on VCDS that checks the operation of the valve. I am not familiar with VCDS or where the test is but it should be on the 01 engine control unit.
  20. If you purchased your car from any garage in the UK. You should go back to the garage and inform them there is an issue. You are covered for 6 months under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the garage are still liable despite what they might say. If you have a dashcam or some other recording device that can capture the noise it makes would make it easier to prove there is a fault.
  21. How much slack is on the belt? If a tensioner had failed the belt would be easy to lift off from the pulleys.
  22. Admit it.....We never really grow up but go for what is sensible and that was why I went with the diesel VRS. I would love a fast petrol again as I had my eye on a Passat R 272 AWD estate. But I couldnt justify the increase of fuel costs. I am 41 next month so trying to avoid the mid life crisis and spending money on my car. I might consider a new VRS PHEV in a couple of years as they seem to be a pretty good car. Though I won't be going as far as Sasha has with adding bits. Awesome build 👌 but I'd rather spend what has been invested in modifying in to a higher spec car to begin with. Glad you are enjoying your new Superb and that was a car I was considering as well. We might be insane and have another child next year so a bigger boot might come in handy. Sleep and having a life is overrated anyway🤣
  23. Thought you had a Sportline?
  24. In fairness at 12k there wont be much service history anyway. Depends if it is on fixed or variable service. Either way the oil will be fine at that milegae not to have been changed by now so no issues there. I would haggle in a service and also ask what oil they use. You still have the balance of manufacturer warranty so if there were any issues they would get fixed.
