  1. Very good. I always tell the dealer 'not to wash my car' after work being done. 2 reasons, 1) I can see where they might have marked it & 2) I know any dirt won't be rubbed in with their sponge. Thanks for this, I've copied and saved for future use.
  2. Hi Tracey, A franchised dealer will know about any updates or re-calls on your intended purchase and, will know what margin they will have on your trade-in. I prefer to purchase from a main dealer every time, if there is ever a problem I would then have better recourse through their head office, ie; Skoda UK.
  3. Hi Nicki85. I would say you need to speak to their General Manager. Give him/her a chance to comment, then contact Skoda UK. The service you have had is not acceptable.

    Yeti towbars

dcl5ad, you have the patience of a Saint. Going through your posts IS/HAS to be a help to us all that are intending to have a tow-bar fitted. For me, it's a big thank you for sharing your unfortunate hassle on here. I'm due to get my Yeti in a couple of weeks, it's a showroom model and the dealer is trying to put me off having a tow-bar fitted through them. I can now see why. May I wish you well and a perfect finish to this hassle.
  5. I normally get the MOT done when the 12 month service is being done. Not all places are the same. 2 years ago the test centre that the dealer uses, they were driving my car in and out of the bay and around their yard with the bonnet stuck up. Found out as I have an in-car camera. Proved this to the service garage, no very helpful they just said 'was the car damaged?' A fair point but, just don't feel happy at their attitude. Guess where my business went.
  6. Oops. I meant front bumper etc. as shown by 175GDY. I would prefer to fit mesh to both upper & lower grills. It seems safety from holes in rad tops the list of to do's.
  7. Possibly the wrong place to ask but, here goes. Could a very nice forum member steer me towards where I can find 'how to remove the 2 front grills'? Reason being, I would like to fit mesh as well.
  8. Surely it's down to your shoe/boot size, being planted on that little pedal. Or do we need to paint go faster stripes? Sorry couldn't resist adding.
  9. Bought the £3.98 one advertised. Well worth the money. Give most info I wanted, showing how panels fit etc. Takes a bit of time to load but, full and I do mean full instructions how to load discs.
  10. Back in September I tried to hire a Yeti, not a chance in hell. I looked on the net at hire companies that came up under Yeti hire and, everyone said 'don't have them' Tried a couple of Skoda dealers, offering to pay for a few days of their choice as I wanted to try before I spent £25K, again no chance. Their attitude was 'they can sell all they get' so not interested in trying to help. In November I took the bull by the horns and put a deposit on a showroom model, ended up with a 10 minute drive. So, should get it (Yeti) in Feb this year.
  11. A bit late to reply on this but, my daughters Fabia N/S window stopped working last night. Checked the fuse this morning, put it back and the window works fine. Had this years ago on a different make. I have no idea how this worked.
  12. I'm an OAP, have been for years. Both our daughter's have added me on their Insurance as when I move or drive their cars I'm covered fully comp, not just 3rd party on my policy. It has reduced both their payments by hundreds each time. One lives in Cambridge and I'm in London, when she comes down I drive her car around.
  13. We've had a set of plates nicked off a car, so now I always remove No. plates on the 1st day and use tape fully covering the back and either 4 or 6 screws, depending on how the garage has fixed them. I now ensure the screws are showing. My in-car camera has since then, picked up a garage mechanic talking about no-one nicking the plates with all those screws showing.

    Would you ?

Living in West London I've never had a problem, yet. Reading about winter tyres makes me think I should consider them, even if it's only for the wet. Any comments about whether to have them the same size as existing wheels ie,17in or drop to 16in would help. My mileage is around 1000+ miles a month, on main A roads & motorways, rarely on side roads. A concern for me is that tyres are supposed to have a shelf life of 7 years, so I guess I would need to check age of tyres at time of purchase.
  15. I'm from West London. Was looking for an auto Fabia in October 2013 on the web and CityGate - Watford had 2. Called in and they were helpful. Car was for my daughter so, we both test drove one of them (cheaper of the 2 was £8K). Agreed to purchase and collect following week. Phone call couple of days later saying a fault had been found on the car and were not prepared to sell it but, we could have the dearer one for the same price. Now into November, so test drove that other car. All seemed OK and still does. Problem was/is they had a Yeti in the showroom, which they have agreed to sell to me in February. I counting the days. Will have to wait and see what the workshop service is like as and when needed. I presume all will be OK, if it isn't you will all hear about it.
  16. Thanks all for the polite replies. I'll just run separate circuits, I just have to work out where to put switches for them. I put the extra lights to ensure I'm seen. The reflectors in them are great when parked at night. Often told my cars look like Christmas trees. And yes, I do have to drill holes for the cables and screws. Only 33 days till I get my Yeti, soon be counting the hours.
  17. Good picture 'looby' was starting to like the F/L. Seeing that picture, I prefer the old/present model. Still I suppose I should as I get my Yeti in 33 days.
  18. Some thick B*********s don't realise they have done damage. They just open their door as if they have the whole damn car park. It doesn't help having a good swear, but just calms my temper before I start driving home. There are times when I wonder, is it worth it having a nice clean car as it always happens with my car when it's clean, never when it's dirty. The worst car park I find for this is the Bull Ring (Birmingham). I always get there early and park far away in a corner, and sometimes come back to find some nice person has given me about 2 inches to get in. Just 33 days to go afore I get my Yeti (sorry)
  19. Have not as yet fitted LED's. Just that I plan to add marker lights to rear of car. I can get around the system by running separate circuits but, would need to lift carpets and remove interior trim (just being lazy). I visually check my lights and tyres etc everyday & most times when returning to the car in a car park. I also carry a full set of replacement bulbs in the boot, as on the rare occasion 1 blows while out, I change the bulb there and then. If Mr Plod wishes to talk to me, go ahead. Even their cars blow bulbs during their days work.
  20. Re - the 0% & 3 years free servicing, read last week that the 0% etc is being withdrawn on Dec 31st for Yeti's and some Vrs cars. As to the l-o-n-g wait for a Yeti, I waiting 3 months for a showroom model that is just sitting there that seems to be smiling at me each time I drive past.
  21. Not on this oil problem. Thanks to 'sk4gw' for that bit of info on dealers keeping Demo cars for 3 months. I was wondering why the dealer 'had' to keep their showroom model for 3 months before I could buy it.
  22. Hi all. Is it possible to turn off the 'bulb failure' warning system? On a 2013 Yeti SE+ Although it's nice to have, I don't want it.
  23. Hi Robocoprs, nice lot of work you have done. Thanks for sharing your work. It's great to see brighter lights/bulbs fitted, they must be easy to see in bright sun (for other drivers) That means other drivers can't say they did not see you. Did you get any Can-Bus errors with the LED's?
  24. Thanks 33q & Truthseeker. The handbook page 46 says how to turn off the DRLs, so that bit should not throw up a failed bulb. At present I use, have fitted, truck Marker lights. They have 2 LED's and the rest of the lens is a reflector, which can be Red, White or Yellow. White at the front & Red at the rear. I have the front & rear linked into my side lights which have been fitted on 4 different cars over the last 10+ years and, passed the MOT every time. I know the law states that ANY lights fitted must comply with EU regs (also stamped as such), and a certain height from the road and equal distance from edge of vehicle and of course of equal watts. I was concerned what the Can-Bus would throw up with any extra circuits, as I also need to install in-car video and speed camera detector. I'm just planning ahead before delivery.
  25. Thanks CFB & Farsider for your info. I have dealt with Willis motors in the past and had perfect service, it's just that they did not have the vehicles we wanted (our daughter & me). We plan to get our cars serviced at Willis anyway as we are only about 5 minutes from their garage. I'm counting the days for my Yeti. Should work out OK as it's a showroom model, just hope the price is not increased.
