  1. Just about 30K miles done in my Yeti in 17 months ownership. Talking to my other half about next engine, if to be petrol or diesel. Sounds like a petrol version is on the cards, due to the hassle of filling the adblue where the filler is. I'm used to trucks with the tanks next to each other. Still maybe, Skoda will put the Adblue filler in a more accessible place in their future model as the present place looks very much like an after thought or a 'Oh! just bung it there'
  2. Hi twoladies, when you talk to GT Towing and when you book your car in, make the point that you want the electrics coded for the Yeti. I had my tow-bar fitted there last year and all done perfect. Spent a couple of hours in their customer waiting area and a fair few cups of coffee (free). When all finished they showed me the electrics working correctly with a lighting board they plugged in. Very polite service and, I felt a fair price.
  3. May I give my opinion? Hi Hyeung, re your post #37, buy a new wheel & tyre. Your life is just as important as your wife and your child. If you asked them they should agree with that, if not, you have a problem. Please do not take the chance on a repair, however good or expert the repairers are and have been in the past. You have a car worth/costing new some where around £25000, a wheel & tyre is around 1% of that worth. If would feel unhappy, or not safe for others to drive the car, then it ain't safe for you.
  4. Agree with the above posts. Mine had 15 miles on the clock when purchased. Covered 26000 miles so far and no oil usage.
  5. Can't help with your model but, I'm running with 32psi with just me and the other half on board. Seems good road holding and tyres are wearing evenly, that's after 26000 miles. You could always give a Skoda dealer's workshop a call for their opinion.
  6. My Nov 2013 reg, purchased Feb 2014 Yeti (15 miles on clock), 2nd full service April 2015. I had the Haldex oil changed with the 2nd service as well, at 24000 miles. The dealer said both times, the items I ask for are not required yet. Tough, I'm paying and want them done. I also change the engine oil between services. Will get the brake fluid changed later this year as well. Some may say 'over the top' or 'waste of money' that's just the way I am with my cars.
  7. +2. Not noticed any noise/clunk. That's from purchase and till now, at 25000 miles.
  8. I would not mention when in for service, unless you hear that sound a few more times. I go to around 3000 within half mile of home, when hot I occasionally go to 4500 revs. Mine feels all OK after 25000 miles. Good luck and continue to enjoy your Yeti.
  9. Hi, I'm not a legal minded person but, with that age of vehicle, and time since purchase I do not think a replacement vehicle will be possible or offered. In so far as fault not being found, it seems that the dealership accepts there is a fault/problem. You will need to insist Skoda UK find and fix the fault. Therefore I believe it is down to Skoda UK to insist that a dealer finds and sorts the fault. The Skoda warranty is valid and worth something, just not as much as we would like. Then issue a claim against Skoda UK for their failure and the time taken to find/fix the fault. It won't be easy or quick (as you know), you have to get very firm and polite with them. Make sure you inform them that you are recording all phone calls and, put it all in writing to them with copies if possible with a complete list/dates of everything. Try to get copies of the work they have actually carried out so far. Good luck, it will take time. It took me around 6 months to sort out my last Freelander (L/R).
  10. I've had all the filters changed on mine, 1st time at 13000 miles and just now at 23500 miles. The dealers workshop said that the changes were not required. Tough, I require them to be changed. Each change included the fuel filter. I also changed the oil myself at 6000 and again at 18000, plus it was changed at each service. I'm sure one or two forum members will say I've wasted my money but, we are all different and treat our vehicles to suit our own needs and wants. I still think the Yeti is a great car. For it's price (that I paid) the package is perfect.

    Dsg

Hi GeoffH, re post #35 My Yeti has the rear tail lights on at the same time as the front DRL's. I still switch the heads on at dusk or heavy rain.
  12. I try and line up the flats of the nut covers with the wheel bolts, and then gently ease/push them on. Re the locking bolts, I've got 2 different sets so 2 different lock bolts per wheel. Those covers are different to the standard wheel bolt cover. Just had a second main service done and took the lock bolts and all the bolt covers off, just in case the dealers w/shop need to remove the wheels. I normally check a couple of wheels bolts every couple of months. Yes, I know I should check weekly.

Lights that blind other drivers are illegal, and if caught/stopped by a police officer they can land you with a fine of up to £1000. That applies if you are stationary or driving. With the DSG, it seems that the clutch is still trying to move the vehicle if in 'D' with the handbrake on.
  14. I sometimes need to push/roll mine back a few feet. I sit in the drivers seat with right leg out (yes and with door open) and foot resting on the driveway. H/brake off and in 'N' just push foot hard and car rolls back. As said above, maybe handbrake binding. Good luck.
  15. Many laws contradict each other, or must be read along with another law. Years ago, Fog lights had to be mounted below 18 inches to be deemed as fog lights. Headlights and spot lights had to be above 18 inches. Driving with either front and/or rear fog lights on in clear driving conditions could/can cause dazzle to other road users and therefore can incur a fine and/or a court appearance where fines of up to £1000 can be applied to the driver of said vehicle. There are regulations and police/court interpretations of 'foggy or driving snow' conditions that allow the use of fog lights. It all comes down to the lack of traffic police officers. Enough said.
  16. As said above, the MOT would fail if the spare tyre with the car at the time of the test was defective. Well that's how it used to be but, rules change without us knowing. As above, ask them to show you their check list. If they say no, ask what are they trying to hide?
  17. Hi Urrell, When I use the sat-nav, it also gives instructions in the maxi-dot, which I would prefer not to have. Going into the settings in the M/dot for navigation, it then gives me the 1st picture in your post#2 if I try to change it. Was wondering if I'm missing something, ie. not looking in the right place or as per usual, not reading the manual (again). Thanks for your time.
  18. Mmmm. If the 170PS is being discontinued, does that mean that the larger brakes fitted to the 170 will also be discontinued. If so, there must be an assembly cost reduction in parts. And a case of, one size fits all.
  19. Based on the above, does that mean I can turn off the sat-nav instructions in the maxidot? I'm sure a few may think why? It's all down to personal choice.

    Poor service

Hi Sad555, I put my Yeti in for a full service at 11 months & 13000 miles. Told them what I wanted and they agreed to do so. On collection number of items not done, their answer - Oh! they don't need doing, so they did not do them. Phoned Skoda UK and complained, they contacted the dealer who phoned me to ask for car back to finish what I asked for. Rest of work done FOC. I think next time they WILL DO as I ask. It's my car and my money, if they don't want my custom, say so and I'll go elsewhere.
  21. Flipping heck, that looks BAD. To me, an untrained eye, looks like those discs are about 20+ years old. If my Yeti gets anywhere near those, the dealers going to make some money, after they explain why they did not tell me sooner. Thanks for sharing.
  22. I feel winter tyres are a help for the driver who has them. Others may get stuck but, in the end it all comes down to your safety. If you feel unsafe in the Yeti, fair enough, get rid. Enjoy your rub a dub-dub (BMW) they are nice cars.

    140 or 170

Hi, I've got the 140, it was a showroom model to took it as a package. It gets to 80mph (in France) quick enough for me. If you put your foot down enough it will go and leave others in your mirror. It picks up from 60mph on the motorway enough to get passed others in reasonable comfort. After 19500 miles I am getting 40mpg average. Bear in mind the Yeti is shaped like a brick and over 60 the mpg tends to drop fast. If you have the cash, get the 170 if that's what you want/like. It's only money. Good luck in your choice.
  24. Hi 137699, Maybe it's vice versa. I'll have to watch my mirror more often. Still I was down in Southampton a couple of times last year so we may have past each other.
